Block play is an important part of our day at the ELC.
Every age group utilizes blocks and accessories to play and learn with at their developmental stage.

🫱🏼‍🫲🏾The block area provides lots of opportunities for children of all ages to practice important social skills such as taking turns, receptive and expressive language, and cooperating with others.

🧮Spatial sense, measurement, comparison and estimation, and shape identification are all mathematic concepts that are used while playing with blocks, cars, and other building materials.

🧱Fine and gross motor skills are also strengthened as they use Legos, magnetic tiles, and other interlocking materials. Children are continually expanding their attention, persistence, and problem solving as they work out how to build creations according to their imagined plan.

🗣️The block area is also a space where teachers have the opportunity to engage in language modeling through describing what children are building, how they are doing it, and asking age appropriate open-ended questions.

A busy fine motor area is one of our favorite things to see in the toddler room.
Building those little hand muscles, attention span, and cause/effect experiences one day at a time.

Our annual Art Show is this Friday! Join us for gallery style viewing of artwork from each of our age groups, hands on art experiences, inflatable slide, ice cream and more! This is a free family event, all are welcome!

🎉 We are excited to announce that CalvaryPHX Early Learning Center has once again been awarded a Five Star Quality First rating! 🎉

Quality First conducts observations to measure program quality, resulting in a rating of 1 to 5 stars. Quality standards are based on what research shows is important in early care and education:

⭐️ Health and safety practices that promote children’s basic well-being, skilled teachers who know how to turn everyday experiences into learning moments
⭐️ Learning environments with age-appropriate activities, books, toys and other learning materials that promote emotional, social, language and cognitive development
⭐️ Opportunities for active play and hands-on exploration throughout the day
⭐️ Teacher-child interactions and engaging conversations that build language and promote thinking and social skills

Five star programs significantly exceed quality standards and consistently maintain high-quality practices.
