You see the warning signs, but starting the conversation feels daunting. That feels even harder. Here’s where I come in. I’ve been on both sides of this struggle. When I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, my world could have fallen apart, and at times, it did. I faced stigma, silence, and the fear that I’d never be able to show up as my full self. In that process, I discovered something life-changing. When people feel truly supported, at work or in life, they don’t just survive...they thrive. Now, I help leaders like you create workplaces where mental health isn’t just acknowledged but embraced as a foundation for growth.

> Burnout decreases while engagement skyrockets.
> Stigma fades, and people feel safe to ask for help.
> Trust grows, and you become the leader your team turns to with confidence. I’ve been where your team is, and I know how to guide them AND YOU through it. I bring nearly 20 years of experience in executive leadership, training facilitation, crisis intervention, and advocacy. Su***de prevention isn’t just about knowing the signs. It’s knowing what to do when you see them. 💜

September is Su***de Prevention & Awareness Month, and there may be no better time to learn a skill that could literally save a life.

On Thursday, September 24, I’m teaching a live, virtual QPR Su***de Prevention Gatekeeper Training. In just 90 minutes, you will learn how to recognize the warning signs, ask the hard question, and help someone get connected to support.

Because when someone you care about is struggling, “I wouldn’t know what to say” doesn’t have to be the answer.

If your mental health is making it harder to do your job, remember this:

You don't have to share your life story to ask for support.

If you need a reasonable accommodation, it's okay to advocate for yourself. You can communicate what you need without disclosing every detail of your diagnosis or personal situation.

Speaking up isn't a sign of weakness...it's a way of setting yourself up for success.💙

🚨 Plot twist: You don’t need to be a therapist to save a life.

But you do need to know what to do when someone says:

“Honestly… I haven’t been okay.”
“I don’t know how much longer I can keep doing this.”
“I think I need help.”

And that’s the moment where a lot of people freeze.

😬 “What if I say the wrong thing?”
😬 “What if I make it worse?”
😬 “What if I don’t know what to do?”

Good news: You don’t have to have all the answers. You just need the skills to show up.

Mental Health First Aid training helps you move from:
❌ awkward silence → ✅ confident conversation
❌ “I don’t know what to say” → ✅ “I know how to support you”
❌ hoping someone else steps in → ✅ being the person who steps up

In this course, you’ll learn how to:

💬 Recognize signs of mental health and substance use challenges
🛠 Respond with empathy and practical, proven strategies
🤝 Connect people to the right resources and support

Because mental health challenges don’t only happen to “other people.” They show up at work, at home, in our families, and in our communities.

The person who needs support may not announce it with a giant flashing sign. Sometimes they just say, “I’m fine”… and we know they’re not.

It's a question far too many employees quietly ask themselves.

When people don't trust that their mental health concerns will be handled with confidentiality and respect, they often choose silence instead.

They avoid asking for accommodations, delay getting support, or continue struggling until they're in crisis.

The problem isn't always HR.

It's the workplace culture surrounding HR.

Psychological safety isn't built by saying, "Our door is always open." It's built when leaders consistently show that employees can ask for help without risking their careers.

💬 I'd love to hear from you: What's one thing organizations can do to build greater trust around mental health conversations with HR and leadership?

06/26/2026

The best part of my job isn't speaking.

It's hearing what people take with them after the training.

Mental Health First Aid isn't about turning people into experts.

It's about helping everyday people recognize when someone might be struggling, start a conversation with confidence, respond to a crisis, and connect them with support.

Every class reminds me of how many incredibly people are out there who truly care about mental health. 💚

These reviews are why I keep doing what I do.

Thank you to everyone who has trusted me with your learning, your questions, your stories, and your vulnerability.

Your feedback means more than you know.

🙋‍♀️If your organization is ready to build a workplace where people feel equipped to respond when mental health enters the conversation, let's talk.

06/24/2026

If you are used to being the reliable one, asking for help can feel disorienting.

Not because you don’t know what’s wrong.

Because you don’t know how to say it without over-explaining, minimizing, or sounding dramatic.

So you say nothing.

Here is the formula I use to change that:

🤷‍♀️ Tell them what’s been going on
🤔 How it’s affecting you
🫶 What you need

That’s it.

No backstory.

No justification.

No comparison to someone who “has it worse.”

Structure reduces shame.

Language reduces overwhelm.

Man, if that ain’t true. Anyone else?

Some people are carrying things they'll never talk about.
Responsibilities.
Heartbreak.
Pressure.
Pain.
And because they smile, keep showing up, and handle it quietly, everyone assumes they're okay.
But strength doesn't make the weight disappear.
Just because someone carries it well doesn't mean it isn't heavy.
Be gentle.
Be patient.
You never know what someone is carrying behind the scenes.

Took me WAY too long to figure this one out.

When we’re constantly overachieving, overextending, and overworking, we’re basically outsourcing our lives.

You’re there, but you’re not there.

The hustle culture has us believing that if we’re not constantly “doing,” we’re somehow falling behind or failing.

But here’s the truth: we are not our to-do lists or our work output.

It’s easy to attach our value to our accomplishments, as if our worth is only as good as our latest win.

If you’re someone who doesn’t do this, I’ve done it for enough years to cover both of us.

At the end of the day, our value doesn’t come from how much we produce, how fast we move, or how many accolades we rack up.

It comes from our integrity and the way we show up in our lives.

Agree or disagree? 🤷‍♀️👇🏼
