"I've been working on my resume for almost four months."

I hear some version of that more often than you might think. The conversation usually goes something like this…...

"I've used AI. I've rewritten it over and over. Every time I think I've finally got it right, I read it the next day and change it again. Then I ask AI to rewrite it one more time."

Sound familiar?

The interesting thing is that AI isn't the exact problem. In fact, I use AI almost every day. It's an incredible tool. But here's what I've learned after working with hundreds of professionals.

- AI is good at giving you words.
- It doesn't know which accomplishments changed the direction of your company.
- It doesn't know which project earned you the trust of leadership.
- It doesn't know the challenges you overcame, the decisions you influenced.
- Or the unique combination of strengths that makes someone choose you over another qualified candidate.
- What it can't do is discover all the right words because it doesn’t know you.

Before we ever touch a resume or LinkedIn profile, we spend time talking. I ask questions. Sometimes the answer to one question leads to three more because that's where the real story begins to emerge.

More times than I can count, a client has stopped mid-conversation and said, "I never thought about it that way."

That's the moment everything changes and clarity starts to come into focus.

- This is the moment I know we found their true story.
- The resume becomes easier to write.
- The LinkedIn profile becomes more authentic.
- Interview answers become more confident.

Not just because we found better words, but because we uncovered the right message that positions them for the opportunities they want.

AI is an incredible assistant; it just isn't a real person and can never replace your voice.

Your Resume and LinkedIn profile aren't simply documents. They're the story of your professional brand. And no technology can tell that story better than someone who takes the time to understand what makes you uniquely valuable.

I'm curious. has AI helped you move forward, or have you ever found yourself stuck in the endless cycle of "just one more rewrite"?

If you've been rewriting your resume for months and still feel like something is missing, maybe it isn't another AI prompt you need. Maybe you just need someone to ask the right questions.

If that sounds like you, send me a DM. I'd love to help you uncover your story.

One of the worst pieces of job search advice I still hear today?

"Just apply to more jobs."

I've worked with hundreds of mid-to-senior-level professionals who have applied to 100... 200... even 300+ jobs.

Many are highly qualified, yet they are using a job search strategy that no longer matches today's hiring market.

Here's why:

✔ Job postings can receive hundreds of applications within days.
✔ Hiring timelines are longer, and employers are becoming more selective.
✔ Many opportunities are filled through networking and referrals before they're ever widely advertised.

Applying to more jobs rarely solves the problem. Instead, ask yourself:

"What am I doing to become visible?"

A successful job search today looks more like this:

✔ Build a target list of companies you want to work for.
✔ Connect with recruiters, hiring managers, and professionals before there's an opening.
✔ Position your value clearly through your resume, LinkedIn profile, and conversations.
✔ Build credibility by engaging, commenting, and sharing your expertise.
✔ Invest in relationships—not just applications.

The people landing interviews today aren't applying to the most jobs. They're intentionally creating opportunities through positioning, visibility, and relationships.

Job searching isn't about doing more. It's about doing the right things consistently.

I'm curious...

What's been the biggest challenge in your job search this year?

A few weeks ago, I was working with a client who had spent more than 15 years in the same profession.

He wanted to pivot into an entirely different industry. Like so many professionals, he believed his experience only fit one path. He couldn't see how everything he'd accomplished could translate somewhere new.

Together, we uncovered something different.

We identified the value he had built throughout his career and reframed his experience in a way that opened new possibilities. Things he never even considered.

When we finished, he looked at me and said:

"This blows my mind. I finally have hope for the future and know I can find something I'll truly enjoy doing."

That moment is why I love what I do.

I don't simply update resumes or optimize LinkedIn profiles. I help professionals uncover the value they've built throughout their careers and position it in a way that opens new opportunities.

Because when you gain clarity about what you bring to the table, everything begins to change.

➡️ You stop questioning whether you're qualified.
➡️ Conversations replace endless applications.
➡️ Networking becomes more intentional.
➡️ Interviews become more consistent.
➡️ New opportunities begin to feel possible again.

Sometimes the biggest transformation isn't your resume or LinkedIn profile.

It's finally seeing yourself differently.

Seeing the experience you've gained, the problems you've solved, and the value you've created through a new lens. Once that clarity clicks, you stop focusing on what you've done and start communicating what you're capable of doing next.

That's when confidence grows. That's when hope returns. And that's when new opportunities begin to open.

If you're feeling stuck in your career, uncertain about your next step, or wondering how your experience fits into what's next, let's have a conversation.

Sometimes all it takes is a fresh perspective and someone to ask the right questions to uncover opportunities you didn't realize were possible.

Feel free to send me a message, I'd love to help you discover what's possible.

What have you discovered about yourself recently?

LINKEDIN TIP: A small signal to increase visibility with recruiters.

Last week I mentioned this feature in a conversation in a networking group of job seekers.

Nearly everyone said they hadn't heard of it.

That told me it needed its own post.

On many companies’ LinkedIn page, in the “about section” (scroll down to the bottom) there's an option most people scroll right past:

👉 "Interested in future positions."

When you select it, you signal interest directly to that company's recruiting team, moving from complete stranger to someone who's already raised their hand.

Recruiters build candidate pipelines before roles even open. When a position does open, they often look first at people who've already expressed interest because they know if they are interested there is a better chance of getting a response.

They could have current openings, which will also alert them you are interested in any potential opportunities.

This takes 10 seconds. It costs nothing.

Quick challenge: Before you leave LinkedIn today, visit your top 3 target companies and check whether you've clicked it.

Small signals compound. This is one worth sending, but it can be buried if you aren’t looking for it.

Drop a ✋ in the comments if you had no idea this existed.

Share with your network, this might help others who are job searching.

What If More Isn't the Answer? 09/14/2026

What if doing more in your job search isn't the answer?

In this month's Talent Trailblazer, I'm looking at a few things happening in today's hiring market that may change how you approach your search, including:

→ Who is actually hiring right now?
The data may have you looking beyond the companies you typically target.
→ Is AI helping your job search or hurting you?
How do you use it, especially on your resume, matters more than you may realize.

And perhaps most importantly, where positioning and relationships fit into all of it.

If you're putting in the effort but not seeing the results, this month's edition may give you a different way to think about what you do next.

❇️ Want to get the interviewer's attention immediately? 🔨 Nail the hello.

Not with a rehearsed line. With something real.

A candidate I know once walked into an interview as the least experienced person in the room. No big brand names on the resume.

But she did one thing nobody else did.

The night before, she found her interviewer on LinkedIn. Noticed they'd both volunteered for the same nonprofit. She mentioned it in the first 60 seconds.

The interviewer stopped. Smiled. Said "wait, you know that organization?"

She got the job.

Here's exactly what she did and what most job seekers never think to do:

Before you walk in, pull up your interviewer's LinkedIn profile. Look for a genuine connection, a shared school, a former company, something they clearly care about. Then look at what the company has been up to lately, a new launch, a milestone, a direction they're headed.

Now you have something real to open with. Not a gimmick. A genuine moment of human connection. Here are a few examples:

☑️ "I noticed you came up through [industry] — that's actually my background too..."

☑️ "I read about your recent [initiative] — it's part of why I wanted to be here today..."

Interviewers meet a lot of candidates. Most blend together, but the person who walked in knowing something specific about them, about their company:

They remember that person.

🔹 You're no longer just another candidate.
🔹 They will walk away remembering who you are because you made the connection.

Have you ever opened an interview with something you found while researching the interviewer or company? What happened?

You know that feeling when you leave an interview and think... why did I say THAT? 😬

You blanked. You rambled. You gave a great answer to the wrong question.

It's not because you weren't qualified.
It's because no one taught you how to tell your story.

Unpopular opinion: Most interview advice is making you LESS hireable.

Telling your life story? No.
Answering with vague buzzwords? No.
Saying "I'm a hard worker" with no proof? Absolutely not.

Here's what actually works: C.A.R.T.

Not the Target kind. The get-you-hired kind. 🛒

C – Challenge → What problem existed?
A – Action → What did YOU specifically do?
R – Result → What changed because of you?
T – Tie Back → Why did it matter to THEM?

That last T? I created it because most candidates never say it. It's the difference between a good answer and one that they can see the impact.

☑️ Example 1 - Nonprofit/Volunteer Role:
"Our volunteer program was inefficient (C). I restructured scheduling, streamlined communication, and built a new orientation process (A). Satisfaction scores jumped 40%, gaps dropped 25% (R). This directly advanced our mission to support families in need, and I will bring that same expertise to you and what you are building. (T)."

See the difference? This answer shows strategic thinking not just task completion.

💡 PRO TIP: Use the job description as your guide. Connect your stories to their goals. Become the obvious solution.

Write it out. Practice it out loud. Own it. BOOM!

I want to hear from you, what's the one interview question that always trips you up?
