Ocotillo Elementary School

Today, our Social Worker, Ms. Fox lead her first new student orientation of the year for students who have joined us in the last month. She reviewed our campus expectations for common areas and spaces. Great job Ms. Fox helping our newest Bulldogs understand how to be successful at Ocotillo!

As a reminder, the WESD will hold its next Food Pantry distribution this Friday, Oct. 2, from 9 to 10 a.m. in the Washington Resource Information Center at our school. Please join us to receive food at no cost, while supplies last!

Our September House Meeting focused on our buddies and showing kindness by being a bucket filler! Students reconnected with buddies from last year or were introduced to their buddies if they were new to Ocotillo. Then each house brainstormed ways to show kindness after listening to the story “Have You Filled a Bucket Today?”

What’s for lunch in October!

Dollar Wars is entering the 2nd and final week! Houses are competing against each other and the totals are being shared on the morning announcements. The winning house will receive 50 additional house points!

Mrs. George has challenged the students to not only meet our $450 total from last year but to beat it!

👏If the students raise $450, we will play music during lunch
👏👏If they raise $500, staff members will show up in all different times/places during the day dressed as Beverly Bulldog.
👏👏👏If the students raise $600 or more some members of the winning house will get to slime Mrs. George!

Don’t forget that 80% of the money raised comes back to Ocotillo! Let’s meet the goal Bulldogs!

Our Kindergarten community welcomed Ms. Tracy Smith from the Phoenix Public Library. She gave an outstanding presentation to our kindergarten students and read some great stories. She brought applications for our kindergarteners to get their own Phoenix Public Library Card.

1sr graders in Ms. Reimink’s class loved taking part in The Monster Tomato lesson from WESD Nutrition Services. They learned about the parts of a plant which goes hand in hand with what they are currently learning about in Reading.

Don’t forget we have a House Meeting tomorrow!

Congratulations to our Boys Basketball team! We can’t wait to watch you represent Ocotillo this season.

Family Science Night was awesome! Everyone who came and experienced all the experiments was all smiles. We may have some future scientists who have found a new passion.

Thank you to azscience for bringing Science on Wheels to Ocotillo and a big shout out to our student house leaders and staff who stayed to run the stations!
