This National Intern Day, we're excited to introduce Daniel Adedeji!

Originally from Nigeria, Daniel earned both his Bachelor's and Master's degree in Architecture from the University of Lagos and is now pursuing a PhD in Design, Arts and the Environment at ASU.

Daniel's interest in architecture began with a simple question: How do the spaces we create influence people's daily lives, comfort, and well-being? That curiosity has evolved into a passion for healthcare, education, and community-focused design, where thoughtful planning can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who use a space.

One project that particularly shaped his perspective was the design of an eco-friendly primary healthcare center. Through strategies like building orientation, cross-ventilation, and courtyard planning, he explored how design decisions can directly support comfort, health, and human experience.

When he's not immersed in design research, you'll likely find him singing, playing video games, or reflecting on a favorite piece of advice: "Focus on your focus, so your image will not be blurry."

We're grateful to have Daniel on the team and look forward to seeing the impact he'll make as he continues his journey in design.

Great parking structures do more than hold vehicles. They shape how people move through and experience a campus.

This is the approach DFDG has brought 57 parking structures across Arizona, for private clients and municipalities alike. We focus on facilities that are durable, low maintenance, and built to last, because a structure that pays off over decades is worth getting right the first time.

Our collaborative delivery expertise has led to many successful outcomes where close coordination with contractors from the start shapes a better, more buildable design.

From July 13 - August 10, we're collecting non-perishable food items to help provide meals for individuals and families in our community. Last year we collected 733 pounds of food. This year, we're hoping to make an even bigger impact!

Summer is one of the most challenging times for food banks. With school on break many families lose access to meal programs and donations often decline. Every can, box, and bag helps provide meals to neighbors facing food insecurity.

For Anthony, architecture is about more than creating buildings, it's about creating spaces where people feel comfortable, safe, and supported.

As an Architectural Associate in DFDG's Tucson office, Anthony brings experience from commercial, retail, and food service projects across the country. His work has taken him through complex jurisdictions and diverse project types, shaping an approach that balances thoughtful design with practical solutions.

Born and raised in Tucson, Anthony earned a full-ride scholarship to the University of Arizona, where he graduated cm laude with a Bachelor of Architecture degree. After gaining experience on projects across multiple states, he's excited to help create meaningful spaces in the community he calls home.

One project currently challenging and inspiring him is the Arizona State Office Building Elevator Modification project. Working through decades of hand-drawn plans and historical records has strengthened his problem-solving skills and deepened his understanding of existing buildings and design coordination.

Outside the office, Anthony enjoys drawing, watching movies with his wife, and embracing the joys and challenges of being a new father. We're excited to see how his thoughtful, people-centered approach to design continues to shape his work at DFDG.

Six weeks of progress, one step closer to completion.

Construction continues to advance on the new parking structure for Phoenix Union High School District, replacing an existing two-story building with a modern three-story precast structure designed to better serve students, staff, and visitors.

In partnership with Chasse Building Team, this transformation includes a new fire-sprinklered parking structure and improvements to the surrounding surface parking areas. The pace of progress over the past six weeks has been made possible through close collaboration among the project team, including the use of precast concrete panels and double tees fabricated in advance by Coreslab Structures - ARIZ Inc. and delivered to the site for rapid assembly.

Happy 4th of July! As we celebrate America's 250th anniversary, we wish our clients, partners, and colleagues a safe and restful Independence Day.

In partnership with the City of Chandler, the Chandler Boys and Girls Club – Chandler Compadres Branch imagined what could be possible for its youth programs, DFDG Architecture was there to help them realize their vision.

The result is a $2.5 million transformation built around what young people need: safety, inclusion, and space to explore.

A new Teen Center now supports esports, gaming, and hands-on learning. A redesigned front entry offers a safer, more welcoming arrival. Improved ADA accessibility ensures the Club remains inclusive for every member who walks through its doors.

The results speak to what's possible when vision meets thoughtful design: this is now a Club that organizations travel from across the country to tour, a place where young people have a safe place to go, and where confidence, resilience, and leadership are built every day.

For us, this project is proof of what we believe at our core: designing for community means listening first, then building spaces that help a community's vision thrive.

Some architects are drawn to complexity, Hani Alahmed is one of them.

As an Architectural Associate at DFDG, Hani helps guide projects from concept through construction, collaborating closely with consultants and project teams to bring design ideas to life. His experience helps balance technical requirements with design intent.

Hani earned his M.Arch. from the University of Arizona and M.S. in Architecture Studies from the University Putra Malaysia. His academic research explored how architectural spaces influence social interaction within residential communities, leading to the publication of a study focused on enhancing quality of life through thoughtful neighborhood design.

That curiosity and analytical approach continue to shape the way Hani tackles complex projects. One experience that stands out is a three-tower residential development along Tempe Town Lake, where intricate design requirements and structural coordination challenged him to balance creativity with practical solutions. The project reinforced his appreciation for the collaboration and problem-solving behind successful design.

Hani's passion for architecture extends beyond individual projects. From researching how design influences social interaction to studying the work of architect Zaha Hadid, he is continually exploring how thoughtful design can improve everyday experiences. Hadid's innovative approach to form, proportion, and spatial composition continues to influence his perspective on design.

We're excited to see how Hani's curiosity, technical expertise, and passion for design continue to shape his work at DFDG.

Progress is becoming reality.

This week, our team joined City of Mesa Police Department, Willmeng Construction, City leadership, and community partners for the Headquarters Progress Reveal and MPD Leadership Summit, an opportunity to celebrate how far the project has come and look ahead to what's next.

The event brought together the people helping shape the future of the Mesa Police Department, from project partners and city leaders to the command staff who will ultimately call the renovated headquarters home.

More than a renovation, the project represents an investment in the people, operations, and partnerships that help keep the Mesa community safe.

The Chandler Center for the Arts is unlike any other performance venue in Arizona. Known for its rotating theater pods and distinctive interior, the theater has served as a destination for performances, events, and student productions for decades.

After helping renovate the theater lobby several years ago, our team is once again partnering with the City Government of Chandler, Arizona to support the next phase of improvements for the theater itself.

A key focus of the design has been preserving the theater's original wood veneer, an important part of both the building's character and an integral finish on the uniquely engineered rotating theater pods. Implemented upgrades include new seating with integrated lighting, flooring, and interior finishes that complement the existing space while enhancing comfort and accessibility.

Even details like the carpet pattern were carefully considered, balancing visual interest with durability and creating an experience that works for patrons of all ages.

The improvements are designed to enhance the patron experience while respecting the character that has made the venue unique for decades.
