There are no policies underpinning the Democratic grand strategy, no major proposals on the table for discussion and debate. There are only the Four Fears.
Fear of artificial intelligence. Every Democrat at every level has gotten the memo. The companies racing to develop AI must be slowed or stopped before they kill us all. From Barack Obama to your local town councilman, the mantra is the same. If you don’t elect us it could be your life. Be terrified. Be very terrified.
Fear of data centers. This is a related fear, though a much more immediate and digestible one than AI itself. The billionaires and oligarchs want your land. They want to hog your electricity and suck up all your water. Oppose this or watch your beautiful town descend into a humming, throbbing hellscape of warehouses and air pollution. If you aren’t afraid, you aren’t paying attention.
Fear of Donald Trump. He will deport your remaining immigrant neighbors. He will legitimize discrimination against trans children. He will send your sons and daughters to die in a war. He will try to engineer a third term for himself. He is a threat to all you hold dear. Left unspoken this campaign season has been the likelihood of a third impeachment. Perhaps it isn’t necessary to say such things anymore.
Fear of MAGA. Tie down the patio furniture all ye who love democracy. Jan. 6, 2021, was only a dress rehearsal for what the fascists have planned this time. “We have never prepared for an election sabotage event like we have now,” Ezra Levin of the left-leaning group Indivisible told the Associated Press. Scared yet?
You’ll notice what Democrats aren’t running on: Fear of a climate apocalypse. That’s because fear is best served fresh. Global warming is past its sell-by date.

More than half of US college students say controversial speakers should be banned from their campuses, with a record-high number adding that violence is acceptable to stop them, a disturbing study shows.
The results provide a dangerous and “sobering picture” of cancel culture on US campuses, according to the expansive six-year study of almost 300,000 college undergraduates nationwide by the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression.
“The atmosphere isn’t just cautious — it’s hostile,” the study’s authors wrote. “Students continue to show low tolerance for controversial speakers, and troublingly, more believe it’s acceptable to shout down a speaker, block access to events, or even resort to violence to silence campus speech than ever before.”
The surveyed students were given six controversial topics — three conservative and three liberal — and asked if someone should be allowed to speak on campus about those subjects,
Only a quarter of the students last year said they would allow speakers to say transgender people have a mental disorder, which was down from roughly a third in 2024.
The percentage of students who would “permit” speakers to say, “Black Lives Matter is a hate group” also fell from roughly one third to one quarter between 2024 and 2025, the data shows.
Around 40% of students said speakers should be allowed to say, “Abortion should be completely illegal,” down from around 45% in the study.
Controversial left-wing talking points, including calling the Catholic Church “a pedophilic institution,” describing the police as “just as racist” as the K*K and saying children “should be able to transition” without parental consent also saw decreasing tolerance among students between 2024 and 2025.

“We polled five routes for Trump to leave office before the end of his term. A plurality of Dems support four of them, including a military coup and death by natural causes. The only one underwater, an assassination, is still supported by 29%.”
GOP's football blitz
Republicans scrambling for midterm momentum are making a massive bet on football, pouring millions into advertising during the country's biggest NFL and college games, Axios' Alex Isenstadt reports.
Why it matters: Republicans are trying to hold onto male voters — football's core audience and a critical part of President Trump's 2024 coalition.
📉 Stat du jour: After winning 55% of the male vote in 2024, Trump has seen his standing with men deteriorate. A new Fox News poll puts his approval among them at 42%, down 9 points from a year ago.
The signs of slippage are particularly clear among young men. A spring Harvard Youth Poll found men ages 18–29 favored a Democratic congressional candidate by 8 points, after reporting an even split between Trump and Harris in 2024.
Zoom in: Republicans are capitalizing on their money advantage by dominating the football airwaves.
They ran 5,546 TV spots during the NFL and college games and pre- and postgame programming where they advertised most heavily last weekend, compared with 471 for Democrats — nearly 12 times as many, according to ad-tracking data obtained by .
Republicans' biggest presence was during the blockbuster Texas-Ohio State matchup, which featured teams from two states with competitive Senate races. The pro-GOP Senate Leadership Fund (SLF) super PAC spent $2 million, airing ads in every quarter before 14 million viewers on ABC.
🍻 In Michigan, SLF struck a deal with a vendor that manages sports programming in Michigan bars, putting its ads on more than 1,000 TVs at 150 bars across the state.
