🌊 A Final Journey. A Lasting Legacy. πŸ’™

There are moments in our work at Research For Life that remind us just how meaningful and special our mission truly is.

The Spread at Sea ceremony in San Diego is one of those moments.

It is an extraordinary honor to carry out the final wishes of our donors and provide a peaceful, dignified farewell to individuals whose generosity has helped advance medical education and scientific research.

As we gathered on the water, we were reminded that behind every donation is a life lived, a family who loved them, and a legacy that will continue to make a difference.

πŸ’™ Did You Know? Families who choose our Spread at Sea option receive a certificate with the GPS coordinates of where their loved one's cremated remains were respectfully scattered at sea. This provides a meaningful way to remember and honor their loved one's final resting place.

To our donors and their families, thank you for placing your trust in Research For Life. It is a privilege we never take lightly.

And to Chiris, Leonard, Tracey, KT, and Andy, thank you for helping carry out this beautiful responsibility with compassion, dignity, and respect.

Their gift advances medicine. Their legacy lives on. πŸŒŠπŸ’™

πŸ’š World Mental Health Day | October 10
Today is a reminder that mental health matters at every stage of life.

Stress, caregiving, illness, grief, and loss can affect each of us differently. There is no single timeline for healing and no one β€œright” way to navigate difficult seasons.
At Research For Life, we work with individuals and families during some of life's most emotional moments. We see firsthand the importance of compassion, patience, connection, and simply being there for one another.

Today, check in on someone you care about. Make the phone call. Sit and listen. And remember to give yourself the same kindness you so freely give to others. πŸ’š
You never know what someone may be carrying. Be kind.

From all of us at Research For Life, we recognize World Mental Health Day and everyone working toward greater understanding, support, and hope.

πŸŽ€ Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to honor those fighting, celebrate survivors, remember those we have lost, and stand beside the families whose lives have been touched by breast cancer. πŸ’—

Every advancement in detection, treatment, surgical techniques, and patient care begins with a commitment to education and research.

At Research For Life, we are honored to support that progress through the extraordinary gift of whole-body donation. Our donors help provide opportunities for researchers, physicians, surgeons, and healthcare professionals to learn, discover, and work toward a healthier future.

To every patient, survivor, caregiver, researcher, healthcare professional, donor, and family, we see you, we honor you, and we stand with you. πŸŽ€

Research brings knowledge. Knowledge brings progress. Progress brings hope.

Meet The Team Monday!

Meet the Registration Duo, Sarah and Polett!

Sarah Austin (Left) - Hi, I'm Sarah! I'm in the registry department at Research for Life. I try to bring a little extra empathy and patience to every interaction, especially since what we do here means a lot to the families we work with. I studied Sociology at Arizona State, which fits pretty well with my love of understanding people. I'm glad that I am able to help families make their end-of-life plans easier and help ease the burden for their loved ones. When I'm not at work, you'll probably find me deep into a fantasy book, spending time with my friends, or at a concert! My favorite quote is, "But that fear is what turns failure into a lesson. If it wasn't scary, it'd mean you weren't trying." -Mingi of ATEEZ

Polett- I have been at RFL for a little over a year now, and it has been a crazy ride to say the least. I had no background in this field when I first started, but being with a team that is eager to teach (and willing to answer my unending list of dumb questions) I am able to feel comfortable in my roles now. Getting to talk with families at all stages of the RFL process has brought so much gratitude into my life. One of my favorite things is hearing stories of our lovely donors told by their loved ones. Even the simplest story can convey how much love was between them.
β€œHow lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”

Fun Fact + Dad Joke Friday

FUN FACT:
Did you know the human body has more than 600 muscles? They help us do everything from walking and smiling to breathing and pumping blood.

Understanding how muscles work together with bones, nerves, and other structures is an important part of medical education. Through whole-body donation, healthcare professionals have opportunities for hands-on learning that can help improve skills and patient care. πŸ’™

AND NOW FOR THE IMPORTANT STUFF… πŸ˜‚

Dad Joke of the Week:
Why did the bicycle fall over?

πŸ‘‰ Because it was two-tired. πŸš²πŸ˜‚

We know. That was terrible.
You're welcome. 😎

Have a fantastic Friday and a relaxing weekend from all of us at Research For Life!
