If you're over 40 and feel like B-vitamins aren't working for you β€” or worse, they're making you anxious β€” you're probably not eating wrong or "too sensitive."

You likely have MTHFR combined with slow COMT. It's one of the most common genetic combinations nobody gets diagnosed with, and it explains why:

You're depleted (your body can't extract enough from food alone)
But you also can't tolerate the standard B-Complex fix
There IS a formula built specifically for this. It's not the one you'll find at the drugstore or from mainstream biohacking podcasts.

Full explanation at the link in bio.

Most people with MTHFR have tried both β€” high-dose non-methylated AND methylated B-vitamins β€” and reacted badly to both.

There's a third option nobody talks about.

The reason your body isn't tolerating either standard approach usually isn't that you're broken. It's that both approaches are dosed wrong for how your genes actually work. Low-dose, non-methylated is the fix that fits both sides of the equation.

Save this post for the next time someone asks why B-vitamins are making them feel weird. Or tag a friend with MTHFR who's still confused about why nothing works.

Nobody talks about this β€” but 20% of adults get canker sores regularly, and research links it to a subtle B12 deficiency most doctors never catch.

The reason? Standard blood tests only flag severe deficiency. The mild, functional kind β€” the kind that shows up in your tissue before it shows up in your labs β€” usually goes unnoticed.

If you get canker sores more than twice a year, this is worth reading through.

I wrote a full piece on how to know if this is what's going on with you, and what to actually do about it. Check out the first comment below

Here's the realistic timeline of what happens when you start supplementing B12 correctly. The first two weeks can be subtle. Weeks 2-6, fatigue and mood start to shift. Weeks 6-12, neurological symptoms improve for people catching deficiency early. Months 3-6 is when most people say "I finally feel like myself again." The earlier you start, the more fully reversible the deficiency is.

Here's the piece that gets missed. Getting B12 from food only works if your body can absorb it β€” and for a surprisingly large group of adults, absorption is broken. Metformin (30 million Americans take it), acid blockers, age, digestive conditions, gastric bypass, and chronic alcohol all reduce absorption. If any of these apply to you, food alone likely isn't enough. Liquid or sublingual B12 bypasses the absorption problem entirely. Take the free quiz to see which form is right for you.
