Meet Hitch! 🐶💙💛
At just 10 weeks old, this handsome Mastiff is already 23 pounds—so let’s just say he’s not planning to stay portable!
Hitch is silly, social, curious, and ALL puppy. He loves to explore, play, nap, and occasionally make a questionable puppy decision just to keep everyone on their toes. 😉
This chunky guy has a BIG future ahead of him, and he’s looking for a breed-savvy family ready to commit to his training, socialization, and continued growth into the magnificent Mastiff he’s destined to become.
Hitch is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and 4DX heartworm negative.

When the Walls Whispered 🐾
A family began hearing mysterious sounds coming from their attic. Then they found one tiny kitten outside and safely brought it inside—but the sounds continued.
Hoping to find the source, the husband searched the attic but accidentally fell through the drywall. When HARTT arrived, the sounds seemed to be coming from inside the wall.
After carefully checking the space between the studs, no kitten was found. HARTT continued searching between the bedrooms when suddenly…
A tiny kitten’s head appeared in the opening! 🥹
HARTT quickly and carefully secured the kitten before it could retreat back into hiding.
With both kittens now safe, a humane trap was placed in the attic in hopes of safely capturing their mama. Understanding the situation first was critical, especially because the kittens could still be nursing.
For now, both kittens are safe with the family while they decide whether to pursue rescue placement or possibly make them permanent members of the family. ❤️

Little miss Thumbelina is SAFE and ADOPTABLE 🥹🐶💝
On a routine Sunday morning we received notification of a little dog on the Northwest side wandering between homes and looking pretty lost for several days. Fortunately the updates were that kind neighbors were providing food and water all along but had lost sight of her for a day. One early morning call to Audrey Tolley and off we went on our road trip search and rescue.
After some driving and scouting the area we just happened to notice a dusty, scruffy and somewhat matted tiny ball sleeping under a car in a driveway. Reports were she was quite skittish when approached so we established a trap some distance away from her and provided high value food and liquid smoke trail and waited. As the sun continued to heat up the area we opted to carefully and quietly move in much closer with the trap and a camera and add some canned cat food to see if we could catch her attention. To our suprise she did not leave but rather stood up and observed us carefully from her hiding spot. We quickly made our way back to the vehicle and left the immediate scene and waited again. Just a few minutes later and our little girl was curious and hungry and SAFE!
She is incredibly sweet and affectionate and very happy to be off the streets and into our shelter for immediate and ongoing care

This sweet 18-pound Dachshund mix once had to rely on himself to survive. He was skinny, cautious, and unsure of the world around him. But look at him now. ❤️
Sly has had his glow-up—and he’s discovered something he never should have had to live without: feeling safe, loved, and cared for.
He may take a little time to decide you’re his person, but when he does? It means everything. Sly is playful, loves other dogs, enjoys his toys, and absolutely LOVES going for walks. Those little legs are ready to explore a life where he doesn’t have to worry about surviving anymore.
He deserves a home where he can finally exhale.

It wouldn’t it a happy Friday without a thank you post for the one and only Two Pups Wellness Fund for their continued medical support and dedication to our mission! These pets received help with their medical care and all have gone to their forever homes!! We are truly indebted to your kindness. These babies, their families and our team thanks you from the bottom of our hearts! 💞

🐾 THE SUNNYSLOPE THREE are SAFE X 3!! 🐾
Word has gotten out among the stray dogs in Sunnyslope, and they’re now showing up right at the HARTT shelter for assistance!
On July 12, our trail camera at the HARTT shelter—which we use to monitor the small cat colony we feed—captured a trio of dogs enjoying the cats’ wet food.
Not wanting the pups to steal the cats’ nightly meals, but also wanting them to return each evening to a safe location, we set up a separate nightly feeding station with dog food + a yummy burger topper and tied a trap open to acclimate the dogs. A local cat feeder posted a negative and inaccurate video on Facebook of this process, stating that we were leaving the trap unattended (it was tied open, not live, and was monitored by camera) and insisting these dogs were a pack of coyotes. This individual also posted a video of herself yelling at and chasing the “coyotes” toward Hatcher Ave. This concerned us greatly and highlights the importance of education in the community.
On 8/6, we finally had space in the HARTT shelter, so we set the box trap live; we caught the medium-sized dog, a female, just an hour later! We named her Twila.
Meanwhile, we continued feeding the other two dogs and began the slow process of building a “Missy trap”—a large, 9-panel, pen-like structure designed to capture multiple or hard-to-trap dogs.
As with any animal rescue, we were at max capacity and had to wait for space to open up before we could set the Missy trap live. This took quite a bit of patience; there were many sleepless nights as we watched the cameras, hoping they would survive just one more day on the streets.
On 9/8, we had an open kennel at the shelter, so we assembled an all-star team of people willing to stay up all night to capture the remaining two dogs. We set the trap live, and three of us camped out in the shelter lobby while two teammates remained on call in their nearby homes.
The pups blessed us with a 10:18 p.m. arrival at the shelter—earlier than they’d ever come!—and almost immediately went to work munching on their wet food with a McDonald’s Double Quarter Pounder topper. We quickly triggered the Missy trap, comforted the dogs, and waited just a few minutes for our on-call teammate to arrive (the Missy trap requires four people to safely secure the dogs in crates for transport).
Then we carefully moved the dogs directly into their kennel inside the HARTT shelter.
We’re thrilled to share that, after an owner search and vetting, Twila was adopted on Labor Day by a lovely family who had adopted from us once before! Tagalong and Crescent are acclimating well—stay tuned for updates!
