RE: Urgent Constituent Concern Regarding Recent Remarks Threatening California Cities
Dear Senator Kelly,I am writing to you today as your constituent to express my profound alarm and grave concern regarding President Donald Trump’s recent remarks during a campaign rally in Nebraska, where he casually suggested letting foreign adversaries "take out" major American cities like Los Angeles and San Diego.
To hear the President of the United States treat the lives of millions of American citizens—and major domestic population and economic hubs—as disposable talking points or collateral damage is deeply unsettling.
Whether framed as rhetoric or political posturing, treating the potential nuclear destruction of American cities as acceptable or dismissible is a dangerous dereliction of the fundamental oath of office, which is to protect and defend the American people.
As a senator representing the Western United States, the safety and security of our region's communities, families, and critical infrastructure must be fiercely defended. Normalizing the threat of catastrophic violence against domestic cities sets a perilous precedent that undermines national security and places American lives at risk.
I urge you to publicly condemn these reckless statements and use your platform in Congress to hold the administration accountable for rhetoric that threatens the safety of American citizens. We need leaders who stand unequivocally against any suggestion that any part of our country is expendable.
Thank you for your time, your public service, and your attention to this urgent matter of national security and public safety. I look forward to hearing your position on this critical issue.
Sincerely,
