Oil and gas executives have pressured the White House not to enact a diesel export ban because it would "wreak havoc on fuel markets at home and abroad," The Wall Street Journal reports. The coordinated campaign including executives from Chevron, ExxonMobil and the American Petroleum Institute comes in response to a proposed moratorium meant to rein in prices that recently crossed $6.50 a gallon. Experts counter that halting diesel exports could ripple globally. "More crude in storage does not immediately put cheaper fuel in a tank," notes oil consultant Lee Vendig.
