Timmy is only 3 years old and after spending his entire life with one family, he was surrendered due to life changes.

Now he’s understandably scared and overwhelmed in the shelter.

But underneath that fear? There is one VERY sweet boy 🤍

When we spent time with Timmy, he was good with leashing, walked nicely down the kennel wing even with other dogs barking and lunging behind their gates, and was wonderful with handling in the play yard.

He accepted kisses. He GAVE kisses. And those blue eyes … need we say more? 🥰

As we spent time with Timmy, he totally and completely stole our hearts. So, naturally, we decided right then and there that we must SAVE TIMMY!!

His previous family shared that Timmy:
🐾 Is house + potty trained
🐾 Is good on leash and follows your lead
🐾 Knows sit + stay
🐾 Lived inside the home
🐾 Was playful + friendly with children
🐾 Was friendly with dogs at the dog park and dogs visiting his home
🐾 Had no resource guarding or aggression noted
🐾 Loves attention

The shelter notes describe a totally different dog (as a result of that environment): Timmy is struggling. He has become fearful in the shelter … which would be a huge adjustment after spending his life in a loving home. Still, he hasn’t shown any reactivity.

Of course, we did NOT see any of this. We saw the sweet, happy boy his family knew. So, we think he’d do wonderfully in a home environment.

Socks is an affectionate 4 year old, spayed Boxer / Pit Bull female. She weighs 45 pounds and is healthy, micro-chipped and has current vaccinations and vet records. Socks is housebroken, loves car rides and walks. She likes to play and is very good with kids. She also loves to cuddle and be by your side! She will be a wonderful and loving family dog!

Every pet deserves the chance to be loved and safe, tucked in a loving home. This summer, Maricopa County Animal Care & Control (MCACC) is partnering with PetSmart Charities® to help more pets find families during PetSmart Charities National Adoption Week, taking place July 20–29 at participating PetSmart stores in Scottsdale, Avondale, Glendale, and Phoenix.

Summer is the busiest time of the year for many shelters as they see a significant increase in dogs who need care, comfort, and loving homes. Pets may be waiting longer than usual during these couple of months as shelters face the pressure of pet overpopulation. That is why events like PetSmart Charities National Adoption Week are key to helping find these dogs loving homes as quickly as possible.

During the in-store event, MCACC invites the public to meet adoptable pets of all ages, breeds and personalities at multiple PetSmart locations. Staff and volunteers will be available to help potential adopters spend time with pets, ask questions and find the right match for their home and lifestyle. During National Adoption Week, dogs at the MCACC’s Everyday Adoption Center will have discounted fees—half off all ages, and dogs more than 25lbs will have waived fees.

Adopting a pet changes more than one life. It gives a pet a loving home and helps create space for another animal in need of shelter care. “We’re deeply thankful to PetSmart Charities for their ongoing partnership and support,” said the MCACC Communications Supervisor, Kim Powell. “We are even more thankful for their help with finding pets loving homes as we see an increase in the number of dogs this time of year. Every adoption truly makes a difference!”
