THROWBACK THURSDAY 🔎🌵

We’re teaming up with to uncover the stories, people and places that helped shape the Valley we know today.

This week: The Orpheum Theatre 🎭️

A Phoenix icon with nearly a century of history. The Orpheum Theatre opened its doors in downtown Phoenix on January 5, 1929, at 203 W. Adams Street. Designed by Lescher & Mahoney, the $750,000 theater featured elaborate Spanish Baroque architecture and an atmospheric interior designed to make audiences feel as though they were sitting beneath the desert sky.

Originally built for vaudeville and movies, the theater later operated under names including the Paramount and Palace West. It also became an important gathering place for Phoenix’s Hispanic community when the Corona family leased the theater for Spanish-language films.

Over the years, the stage welcomed stars including Mae West, Henry Fonda, Carol Channing, F***y Brice and Lauren Bacall.

After falling into disrepair by the 1980s, the City of Phoenix purchased the building in 1984. A community-supported $14 million restoration followed, and after being listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985, the Orpheum reopened in 1997.

Today, it remains a beloved downtown landmark and a piece of Phoenix history. 🌵

Foundress Fridays ✨️ Meet Spiritual Guide and Modern Mystic Treasure Marie.

Treasure Marie guides individuals and intimate groups toward self-remembrance through mindful awareness and heart-centered living. With nearly 30 years of experience in yoga, human potential, life coaching and spiritual work, she blends the mystical with everyday life, helping others move from searching to integration. Her work is offered from her sanctuary in Cave Creek, online, through group activations and retreats.

We asked her, "What is your “life motto”?"
