📚 Fridays: Half Days for K–8 Students
Enjoy a little extra time on your Friday afternoons!

🍎 October 23: No School – Teacher Work Day

We hope everyone has a fun, safe, and spooky Halloween! 👻🍬

And to our Credit Recovery Program students, we know your flexible, self-paced schedule doesn't follow the traditional school calendar. Even so, remember that taking a break is important! Give yourself time to rest, recharge, and enjoy some of the fall fun, too. 🍂

🌟 STEM Academy Staff Spotlight! 🌟

This week, we’re shining the spotlight on Darrylon Lane, our Physical Education Teacher! 🏀❤️🖤

Coach Lane is passionate about having a positive impact on students’ lives while reminding them that it’s always okay to be yourself. He also believes meaningful student engagement extends beyond the classroom through positive connections with the community.

His goal? For students to describe his impact in one word: INSPIRATIONAL. 💪

What’s one thing you’re proud of yourself for this month?

Maybe you showed up on a hard day, asked for help, tried something new, accomplished something you’d been working toward, made someone laugh, or simply kept going.

You don’t have to share it with anyone. Just take a moment to recognize it for yourself.
Small wins, big wins, and everything in between. They all count. 💙

🔬 The future is looking bright for STEM!

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, STEM occupations are projected to grow 7.4% from 2025–2035, compared with 3.2% for non-STEM occupations. STEM careers also had a median annual wage of more than $106,000 in 2025.

For students at STEM Academy, that positive outlook makes the skills they’re building today even more meaningful. Through STEM-focused learning, technology, problem-solving, critical thinking, and hands-on experiences, students have opportunities to explore their interests and begin building skills that can support many different paths after high school.

For our 7th and 8th graders, it’s also a chance to start exploring those interests early. You don’t have to know exactly what you want to be yet. STEM is about asking questions, experimenting, solving problems, and discovering what excites you. 🚀

The careers of 2035 are being prepared for in classrooms today. ❤️💙

There’s something special about giving students a space to create.

Art gives students the freedom to experiment, make mistakes, find their own style, and turn an idea in their head into something they can actually see and share. Not every student expresses themselves in the same way, and that’s exactly why having the arts in education matters!

In honor of National Arts in Education Week, we’re celebrating all the creativity happening in our classrooms and the students who make it their own.

And of course, one more shoutout before the week ends to our Art Teacher, Amy McBroom, who helps give our students that space to create and explore every day. ❤️🖌️

STEM Academy is now enrolling students in grades 7–12! 🎓

Our schedule is designed to give students the structure and flexibility they need to succeed, with different schedules for middle and high school students.

📚 Grades 7–8: Academic day from 8:00 AM–3:00 PM
⏰ Grades 9–12: Morning academics from 8:00 AM–12:50 PM
📖 Earn at least 6 high school credits per year
➕ Opportunities to earn additional credits through afternoon programming
🎓 Credit recovery and early graduation options available
🙌 Academic support, student clubs, and more

For high school students, the new trimester schedule means focused mornings and more flexibility in the afternoon to work toward their individual goals.
