Phoenix … is for the birds!
A stunning number of nearly 3.8 million birds crossed through Maricopa County last night—the peak of migration season as they fly south for the winter.
This week, Phoenix joined with Audubon Southwest to launch Bird-Friendly PHX to make our city a more welcoming place for migrating birds and those who call our community home.

Special thanks to local artist Ariana Enriquez | Artist, Muralist, Painter on designing such a lovely pledge poster.
We’re one step closer to opening the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix Medical Innovations Building in the Bioscience Core!
The City of Phoenix invested in this project because we know it can improve lives. As someone whose family has been impacted by cancer, I believe the work from this building and others like it in our city can lead to better treatments for patients and, one day, a cure for cancer.

September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month, but I want Phoenix residents to know that resources are available year-round.
📞 Arizonans can call the Arizona Statewide Crisis Line at 1-844-534-4673 for free, confidential support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
📱 Or text HOPE to 4HOPE.
And Phoenix residents who call 911 will be asked if they need police, fire or behavioral health support—so we can send the right people with the right training when it matters most. For more resources available to you and your loved ones, visit https://www.phoenix.gov/administration/departments/humanservices/programs-services/strategic-initiatives/phx-mental-health-matters.html.
PHX Mental Health Matters PHX Mental Health Matters is a city initiative to bring awareness to mental health resources.

Phoenix is investing in solutions to address extreme heat, but this challenge demands investment and action at every level. That’s why I was proud to join Congressman Greg Stanton and Rep. Yassamin Ansari for the launch of the Arizona State University Center for Heat Preparedness. The center will bring together experts from throughout the university to help us innovate.
For years in Arizona, your local coffee shop has paid a higher tax rate than data centers owned by the wealthiest entities in the world. It’s not smart or sustainable and it has to change.

We’re working to protect the wildlife that lives in and passes through Phoenix. Millions of birds migrate through our city each year, and many more call Phoenix home year-round.
That’s what Bird-Friendly PHX is all about. Learn more about how to help or get involved at our launch Tuesday at 5 p.m. at the Rio Salado Audubon Center. RSVP: bit.ly/4xvD922
Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is testing self driving shuttles by Ohmio in the East Economy Lot. I was able to give one a try recently. It’s another example of Phoenix leading the way in autonomous vehicles.
Community investment from data centers is not optional, it is a business cost. In Phoenix, we believe you should be helping the communities you want to build in.
Data centers shouldn’t increase energy bills, strain water supplies or undermine climate targets—and they must give back to the communities they’re in. We can address these issues while continuing to be a leader in technology. More from my discussion on CNN.
