Phoenix Sleuth

Wheels down, returned from our vacation in England, Scotland, and Ireland. It was an amazing few weeks to enjoy other countries that have a deeper history than the U.S. Quite a mix of old and new in so many ways. Our hotel in London was the Rubens, Victorian in every way. It sat across the street from one of the entrances to Buckingham Palace. We took dinner a short walk down the road at The Shakespeare Pub.

Sisters in Crime Chapters, Grand Canyon Writers, Desert Sleuths, and Tucson were well represented at the Cruisin’ into Spring Car Show and Book Sale with numerous books and anthologies by Author Merle McCann and me. I attribute the success of the event to the multitasking and coordination of Activities Director Danielle Welker. Thank You, Danielle, so much for the invitation!

This Saturday, April 4th, from 10:30am–1:00pm. Vista Winds and the neighboring Assisted Living and the Eagle Ridge Apartments are hosting the Cruisin’ into Spring Car Show!
Author Merle McCann and I will be hawking our books in the parking lot of Eagle Ridge Apartments along Trilogy Blvd.
The Vistancia Car Club will be showcasing 40 classic cars in addition to live music, photos with the Easter bunny, and a BBQ lunch.

Deniis is a former Hollywood screenwriter (MY FAVORITE YEAR, among others), now a licensed psychotherapist specializing in treating patients in the creative arts. And he's a celebrated author of the displayed books.

Tucson Festival of Books is this weekend. You can find Tucson Sisters in Crime at booth 426. I happen to have a short story published in the Sisters in Crime Tucson Chapter’s Anthology. "More Trouble in Tucson". Some really good stories written by Sisters in Crime authors from Desert Sleuth, Tucson, and Grand Canyon Writers Chapter authors. Edited by Eva Eldridge!

Traveling in Arizona again with Retired Phoenix Sergeant Vern Busy, my brother-in-law, Mike Rabayda, and I met up with Author Clark Lohr in Tucson, at the “Oldest Mexican Restaurant in the United States, the El Charro Café. Good food and great conversation!

I had the honor of witnessing Phoenix Police Chief Matt Giordano promote their newest Commander Mykel Moller. His wife Jesse assisted by pinning his new badge and stars on him. Retired Detective Danny Webb, 4585, was the proud father-in-law, along with his wife Laura, and rest of the family. I had my picture taken with the brass and was reminded, Executive Assistant Chief Dennis Orender was a rookie when I worked with him. Chief Giordano, EAC Orender, and Commander Moller are very good for the department.

Nothing beats a book signing with a Sister in Crime like Author Merle McCann! We were at Vista Winds Independent Living in Peoria, AZ., at the end of January this year. Merle's best seller is MURDER AT HARMONY FARM. We also sold anthologies that each of us have stories in from Sisters in Crime Desert Sleuths Chapter.
