Symbolism was in full bloom in Mrs. Boehm’s sophomore English classes this week! 🌺🌻🪻🌼
Students selected a notable literary character and created a bouquet of flowers, with each flower carefully chosen to symbolize something about their character. From Peeta Mellark and Scout Finch to Conrad Fisher and Ryland Grace, students brought their favorite literary characters to life through creativity, color, and thoughtful symbolism.
What a creative way to show that sometimes, a character can say a lot without saying a word! Thank you Mrs. Boehm!

Xavier’s 30th Kairos Retreat is currently underway!
After three days of prayer, reflection, community, and growing closer to Christ, our retreatants have arrived at Day 4. Our amazing student leaders want to remind all past retreatants to, “Live the Fourth!”
Kairos may be only a week long retreat, but its message and impact are meant to continue long after the retreat ends.
Please keep all of our K30 retreatants in your prayers as they continue this beautiful experience of faith, reflection, and community.

What a beautiful morning celebrating our grandparents at Xavier!
Today, our Xavier community gathered for a special Grandparents Day Mass, giving thanks for the grandparents who have shared their love, wisdom, faith, and countless memories with our students and families. Their presence is a beautiful reminder of the generations that came before us and the traditions and values that continue to shape our community.
Pope Benedict XVI once reflected on the special role of grandparents, reminding us that they can be, “The guarantors of the affection and tenderness which every human being needs to give and receive.” He described grandparents as the memory and richness of families and encouraged us never to exclude them from the family circle, calling them, “A treasure which the younger generation should not be denied,” particularly when they bear witness to their faith.
We are grateful for the grandparents who pray for our students, encourage them, share their stories, celebrate their accomplishments, and help pass the gift of faith from one generation to the next.
Thank you to all of our grandparents for being such an important part of the Xavier family. We are blessed by your presence, your love, and your example.
Happy Grandparents Day!

About the recital venue:
Rosie’s House: A Music Academy for Children was founded in 1996 by Rosie Schurz. Her family was forced to evacuate their home in Munich and flee to the German countryside. On her family’s journey to safety, seven-year-old Rosie, who had just started music lessons, had to leave her violin behind. Throughout her life, her sense of loss for her violin remained poignant. She immigrated to the United States in 1964 and became a Red Cross nurse. She moved to Phoenix a few years later, becoming a professional photographer and doing volunteer work for the homeless.
In 1989, Rosie met Mother Teresa when the now-beatified nun visited Arizona. The encounter inspired her to do even more, and in 1996, she and her husband, Woody Schurz, fixed up an old house and turned it into a community center called the Christmas House, offering after-school programs for low-income children. The center soon evolved into Rosie’s House, which is now one of the biggest after school music programs in the nation.

Yesterday, W.A.X. (We Are Xavier) Truth Committee hosted their Bell Tower Event, inviting students to take part in a heartfelt activity centered around their hopes for the school year. Students wrote prayers, wishes, and goals on colorful sticky notes, which were then displayed throughout the Bell Tower as a beautiful reminder of our community’s hopes and aspirations.
Thank you to the W.A.X. Club for hosting such a meaningful and uplifting event and giving our students a chance to reflect, dream, and look ahead to the year together!

Congratulations Señora Clay!
We are so proud to celebrate Xavier Spanish teacher Peggy Sue Clay, who was honored this afternoon as the Arizona Language Association (AZLA) Teacher of the Year!
Señora Clay was recognized at AZLA’s Fall Conference on Saturday, September 12, for her outstanding excellence in teaching, leadership, and contributions to world language education.
But the celebration doesn’t stop here! As Arizona’s Teacher of the Year, Señora Clay will advance to the Southwest Conference on Language Teaching (SWCOLT) in February 2027, where she will represent Arizona and compete against Teachers of the Year from eight other southwestern states.
We are incredibly proud to have Señora Clay representing Xavier and inspiring our students every day through her passion for language, culture, and education. Congratulations Señora Clay!

We took a trip through time, and the Gators brought the energy!
From the 1800s to the 3000s, Xavier’s Fall Rally was one for the history books! The freshmen class represented the 1800s, the sophomore class the 3000s, the junior class the 2000s, and the senior class the 1900s.
The costumes, the music, the performances, and the spirit were out of this world!
The winners of this rally’s spirit stick was XCPFlagFootball and the winning class of the rally was Class Of 2029 Stuco
A huge congratulations and thank you to XCP EXECUTIVE BOARD for putting together such an amazing 1st rally!
See you all again at the Lights Out Rally!
