Mayor Chad Major
With deep gratitude and a clear vision, I’m honored to serve as your Mayor. Together, we’ll protect our values, and plan for a thriving future.
I’m committed to preserving what makes Pilot Point special while leading us toward meaningful progress. My wife and I retired in Pilot Point primarily due to the small-town charm, and its proximity to the country, lake, and horses. We were struck by the rich history and foundation of the strong values for which Pilot Point is known. I hope to preserve that history, particularly in the historic dow

Stage 2 is triggered when the water system is unable to recover ground storage to approximately 90% or when water usage exceeds the city's pumping capabilities. The concern is not simply that storage falls below 90% during the day, but that it is not sufficiently replenishing during lower demand overnight hours.
Current water demand coupled with continued hot and dry conditions have significantly increased our City's daily water demand. Under the City's adopted drought response plan, we are entering Stage 2 voluntary water restrictions, effective immediately.
Stage 2 is triggered when the system cannot recover ground storage to approximately 90 percent or when water demand exceeds the City's pumping capabilities. This causes the City to begin the next day with less stored water available to meet normal demand, maintain pressure, support fire protection and respond to unexpected conditions.
The goal of these conservation efforts is to reduce daily water usage by 10 percent and allow the water system to keep up with demand.
Please limit irrigation systems and hose end sprinklers to once weekly according to the schedule shown below. Hand watering with a hose or watering can is not subject to the day and time restrictions.

“I am excited for the T&J Travel Center to break ground. Excited for what they bring for our residents in the way of a fuel center, retail stop, and full-service restaurant with outdoor seating. T&J will bring an economic boost and new jobs to our community, but also a commitment to engage with us to make a positive impact by supporting local initiatives. They are bringing their successful business model from an area I know well, the West Texas oil fields – a highly competitive market for this type of business. And I am thankful to have them bring that success here to Pilot Point!”
🚨YOU ARE INVITED‼️‼️
Join us to celebrate the groundbreaking of T&J Travel Center TOMORROW, Wednesday, July 29th, at 8:30 AM!
We can't wait to see everyone there!!

B-shift Pilot Point Fire department made us proud!!
At last night's City Council meeting, we formally introduced our PROMISE Champion program to the community by recognizing our May and June PROMISE Champions.
June's PROMISE Champions went above and beyond on a routine call, giving excellent life-saving aid to someone who was injured at their job. We recognized the B-Shift Pilot Point Fire Department Crew. Read more about their efforts (📝 https://www.pilotpointtx.gov/Blog.aspx?IID=91 ) and give them some kudos in the comment section 👏

I have had several residents and ETJ people approach me about the TCEQ mailer - and We also received one at our house. Please see the City response below.
The City of Pilot Point is aware that residents have received direct mail notifications from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) regarding groundwater contamination. City staff has confirmed with TCEQ that 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐧𝐨 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐭 𝐏𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭'𝐬 𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐲.
These notifications are being sent in accordance with Senate Bill 1663, which became effective on September 1, 2025. The law requires TCEQ to notify every residential address located within one mile of a documented groundwater contamination site. Receiving this notice does 𝐧𝐨𝐭 mean that your drinking water is currently contaminated. In most cases, these mailings are informational and are based on known contamination sites that may have occurred at any time from 2003 to the present.
Our Public Works Department is diligent in monitoring the status of our public water system. The City of Pilot Point recently received a Superior Public Water System designation from TCEQ. Should a groundwater contamination incident occur, the City would provide residents with any necessary guidance and instructions.
