PRESS RELEASE
For Immediate Release
[PILOT POINT, Texas, July 29, 2026]
Members of T&J Travel Centers, including partner Anthony Taylor, gathered with City of Pilot Point elected officials, Municipal Development District Board Members, city staff, and the community to celebrate the groundbreaking of T&J Travel Centers' new location on the southeast corner of U.S Highway 377 and Strittmatter Road.
"We looked for small high-growth areas in a core community with pride," Taylor said. "We must have looked at a dozen markets all in the North Texas area, and [Pilot Point] is where we wanted to call our first location out of the Permian Basin. I wish I could capture the weight behind that decision."
The Travel Center will include a fuel station alongside Tarzan Grill, the founding restaurant behind T&J Travel Centers, and a HTeaO franchise location. Additionally, there will be a kids' play area, outdoor patio, and a s'mores station for kids.
"I wanted to feel a connection to where I was going, and we found that here. This is where we are planting our flag in the DFW area. This is the first, and it's the first for a reason," Taylor said.
The $10 million project is a result of private investment from T&J Travel Centers and public investment from Pilot Point City Council and Municipal Development District, which will generate property and sales tax revenue growth for the City of Pilot Point. The Chapter 380 incentive agreement was approved by City Council in January 2026. Details of the agreement can be found here.
"This is a big deal for Pilot Point. We are very excited to have you," said Andrew Ambrosio, Mayor Pro Tem and Municipal Development District Board Member. "It's a pleasure to see another business dedicated to enriching our local community. I think it will be a great partnership."
T&J Travel Center will begin construction immediately and is slated to open in March 2027.
"We are proud to have T&J welcome visitors and community members traveling to Pilot Point," said Denise Morris, Executive Director for Pilot Point Economic Development. "Not only will T&J be a beautiful store, but it will have a significant economic impact on our community."
