Pittsburg Public Library

🚨 Big changes are happening at the Library! 🚨

Pittsburg Public Library will close at **1:00 p.m. TODAY, Monday, October 5**, and remain closed through Tuesday, October 6 while we migrate to our new library system: SEKnFind! Hosted by our friends at the Southeast Kansas Library System.

⚠️ A heads-up for our digital users: Most Library digital services will also be temporarily unavailable during the transition—including Libby. If your Libby account isn’t working, don’t panic! It’s part of the migration.

We’ll reopen at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 7, with a brand-new system and a great new online catalog! 🎉

There may be a few bumps along the way as we get everything up and running, and we appreciate your patience while we make the switch. There is no Story Time this week (see you next week!)

New system. New catalog. Same Library. 💛📚

We can’t wait to welcome you back Wednesday!

Cozy season is officially here! 🍂🥣 The October Spice of the Month is Allspice, paired with a delicious recipe for Butternut Squash Soup—just right for a crisp fall day!

Stop by the Pittsburg Public Library or Frontenac Public Library to pick up your spice and recipe packet.

A big thank you to Chef Heather Lynn Horton and TOAST Restaurant for providing the bulk spices and specially curated recipes that make our Community Spice Library possible! ❤️

Get yours while they last—and get ready to make something delicious! ❤📚

The LEGO BuilderSpace Open House for kids and teens will meet on Thursday, October 1, and Thursday, October 15, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

No registration is required for this free program. As always, children under the age of eight must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.

Of course, Bev wasn’t the only one celebrating retirement yesterday. After years of distinguished service to the Library, BB Wolf—Bev’s favorite puppet, longtime alter ego, and affectionately known as “Wolfie”—is retiring, too. 🐺

His fellow puppets gathered for a proper send-off, and Wolfie dressed for the occasion in his finest bow tie and cufflinks. Naturally, no retirement party would be complete without his favorite delicacy: Chicken in a Biskit crackers with spray cheese. Only the best for a legend. 😂

Thank you again to everyone who helped us celebrate Bev—and Wolfie!—and made the day one we’ll always remember. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday to celebrate Bev Clarkson and wish her well in retirement! ❤️

We’re so grateful to the friends, patrons, colleagues, and community members who stopped by to share memories, offer congratulations, and help us celebrate Bev’s many years of service to the Pittsburg Public Library. Your kindness and support made the afternoon incredibly special. We are so fortunate to be part of a community that loves and supports its library—and the people who make it such a special place. 📚❤
