Did you know locally owned independent businesses can have 3.5X the impact on the local economy compared with chain stores?

Every local purchase helps support the jobs, services and people that make this community stronger. And when residents know which businesses are behind their community, they’re more likely to remember who to call, visit and recommend.

That’s where we come in. We connect trusted local businesses with the neighbors they want to reach and help sponsors build recognition that lasts beyond a single ad.

👉 Want your business to be one of the names locals know and support? Send us a message to learn more about becoming a sponsor.

Did you know the Civil War helped accelerate Pittsburgh’s rise as an industrial powerhouse and set the stage for its famous nickname? ⚙️ Increased demand for iron and armaments strengthened the local economy, and in 1872, Andrew Carnegie opened a massive steel plant that would help transform the region.

By 1901, Carnegie joined forces with Henry Clay Frick to form United States Steel Corporation, then the largest steel manufacturer in America. The booming industry drew workers from around the world, fueled Pittsburgh’s growth and built the steelmaking legacy that still shapes the city’s identity today.
