FROM BUCKET TO SOIL. 🌱

This is what a Saturday morning at the Hazelwood Food Recycling Site looks like — neighbors turning food scraps into compost, credits, and community. Every third Saturday, 10am, on the Hazelwood Greenway.

Give what you've got. Get what you need. Make change for good.

TLDR: COMMUNITY ACTION BECOMES COMMUNITY WEALTH
Cecilia logged two hours at Garfield Community Farm, and those hours just became 40 Community Credits. In involveMINT's exchange, this currency circulates through small businesses, nonprofits, and neighbors — building shared local prosperity without cash leaving the community. When your actions are credited and valued, the whole neighborhood thrives. 🌱✨

GIVE WHAT YOU'VE GOT. GET WHAT YOU NEED. 🌱

A bucket of food scraps. A fresh loaf. An hour of bookkeeping. A seat at your table. On involveMINT, whatever you offer the community mints credit you can spend across a network of Pittsburgh businesses — no cash required.

Every offer is an impact, and every impact is logged as Proof. That's how neighbors make change for good.

60 POUNDS OF FOOD SCRAPS WALKED INTO A SCHOOL 🥕 …and started becoming tomorrow's soil.

This week a neighbor dropped 60 lbs of produce scraps at the ZEUS digester at Penn Hills Charter School of Entrepreneurship — logged as a Proof of Impact and minting 21.80 community credits on the spot. The digester, built by Ecotone Renewables, turns scraps into Soil Sauce fertilizer that feeds gardens across the network.

Give what you've got. Get what you need. Make change for good.

Welcome Sick Day Design to the involveMINT network! Sick Day is a Pittsburgh-based brand and web design studio helping local businesses and nonprofits show up online with custom websites, logos, and identities that actually work. Community credits earned through actions in our network can now be exchanged for the kind of design work that most small businesses and orgs never had the budget for - until now. That’s a neighborhood economy doing what it’s supposed to do. 💚

🌱 Throwback to last September, when Maren Cooke led a composting workshop and demo at the Hazelwood Food Recycling Site, in conjunction with the Pittsburgh Green New Deal. Hands-on learning on what it takes to turn food scraps into rich soil. Actions like these are exactly what mint community credits and keep Pittsburgh’s local economy growing. 🌿
