Human trafficking doesn't always look like the movies.

It can happen in neighborhoods, schools, workplaces, hotels, restaurants, and online. That's why awareness matters.

One of the best ways to help protect your community is to learn the warning signs before you ever need them.

The free training from OnWatch™ is survivor-led and teaches you how to recognize, report, and help prevent human trafficking through real-life experiences and practical education. It takes about an hour to complete and could help you recognize when something isn't right. [OnWatch™](https://iamonwatch.org/?utm_source=chatgpt.com)

At WPSARDC, we believe education is one of the strongest tools we have to build safer communities.

💙 Knowledge can save lives. Be informed. Stay aware. Be OnWatch.

Pittsburgh has no shortage of things to do this summer... but social wellness isn't about where you go—it's about how you connect while you're there.

Whether you're visiting a farmers market, enjoying a community festival, grabbing dinner with family, or taking a walk through your neighborhood, every outing is an opportunity to make someone's day just a little brighter.

🚪 Hold the door open for a stranger.
😊 Smile as you pass someone on the sidewalk.
👋 Say hello instead of looking at your phone.
💬 Compliment someone.
🤝 Thank the cashier, server, or volunteer.
❤️ Be patient. Be kind. Be present.

The best part? None of these things cost a penny—but they can mean the world to someone else. 💙

What is Social Wellness? 💙

Social wellness is our ability to connect with others, build healthy relationships, feel included, and experience a sense of belonging within our communities.

At WPSARDC, social wellness isn't just something we talk about—it's something we strive to create every day.

💙 Food Market Days are about more than providing food. They're an opportunity to visit with familiar faces, share conversations, and remind people they're part of a caring community.

💙 Street Outreach is built on relationships. We take the time to listen, learn names, hear stories, and meet people where they are—with dignity, compassion, and respect.

💙 Pawsitive Pet Pantry helps people keep beloved pets with their families. Those pets provide companionship, comfort, routine, and unconditional love—an important part of social wellness for so many people.

💙 Operation: Take Me Home helps individuals with autism, dementia, and other conditions stay connected to the people who love them while providing caregivers with added peace of mind.

At the heart of every WPSARDC program is the belief that people deserve to feel connected, valued, and supported.

Because behind every program is a person. Behind every service is a relationship. And behind every relationship is the opportunity to create hope, build trust, and remind someone they matter. 💙

So… what exactly is social wellness? 💙

Social wellness is our ability to connect with others, build healthy relationships, feel included, and have a sense of belonging within our communities.

And sometimes, social wellness starts with something incredibly simple: feeling welcome.

At WPSARDC, supporting social wellness is woven into many of the programs we provide. It can look like a familiar face and conversation during Food Market Days. A street outreach team taking the time to listen and learn someone's name. Helping a family care for a beloved pet through Pawsitive Pet Pantry. Or creating support and connection for individuals and families through Operation: Take Me Home.

Different programs. Different needs. But at the heart of each is something very human — connection.

Because sometimes support isn't only about what we can provide. Sometimes it's about making sure people know they matter, they belong, and there is a community that cares. 💙

CitiParks Opening 5 Cooling Centers 06/30/2026

Here's one written specifically for the WPSARDC – Pittsburgh page, keeping the focus on community support and looking out for one another.

🥵 Pittsburgh, let's take care of each other.❤️

With dangerous heat expected across our area, the City of Pittsburgh has opened five Citi Parks Cooling Centers for anyone who needs a safe, air-conditioned place to cool off. The centers are open daily from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM through Thursday, July 2. ([City of Pittsburgh][1])

💧 If you know someone without air conditioning, check in on them.
🐾 Make sure pets have plenty of fresh water and shade.

💙 Motivational Monday 💙

This week's motivation is simple: Be the reason someone has a better day.

With dangerous heat expected across the Pittsburgh area, many organizations are working hard to protect our most vulnerable neighbors by distributing cooling supplies, providing water, opening cooling shelters, and checking on those without a safe place to escape the heat.

You don't have to do something big to make a difference.

💧 Donate bottled water or cooling supplies.
🤝 Volunteer with a local outreach organization.
🏢 Spend an hour helping at a cooling shelter.
🥪 Assemble care bags for those experiencing homelessness.
❤️ Support organizations working to keep our communities safe during extreme weather.

Every act of kindness—no matter how small—can help someone stay safe during this week's extreme temperatures.

❤️ If you had one hour this week to help your community, how would you spend it?

Share your ideas in the comments—you might inspire someone else to make a difference.

Have a safe and meaningful week, Pittsburgh! 💙

☀️🥵 HEAT ADVISORY FOR THE PITTSBURGH AREA 🥵☀️

Dangerous heat is expected across the Pittsburgh region this week, with heat index values climbing into the upper 90s and low 100s. Take a few extra precautions to protect yourself, your family, and your pets.

❤️ Stay Safe:

💧 Drink plenty of water—even if you aren't thirsty.

👶 Kids: Dress them in lightweight clothing, take frequent breaks in the shade, and NEVER leave a child in a parked vehicle.

🐾 Pets: Make sure they have plenty of fresh water and shade, avoid walks during the hottest part of the day, and **test the pavement with the back of your hand for 7 seconds.** If it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for their paws. Never leave pets in a parked vehicle.

🏡 Check on your neighbors, especially older adults, those living alone, and anyone without reliable air conditioning. A quick phone call or knock on the door could make all the difference.

🚑 Know the signs of heat illness: dizziness, heavy sweating, nausea, weakness, or confusion. If someone stops sweating or loses consciousness, call 911 immediately.

☀️ Pittsburgh summers can be hot! What's one heat safety tip you wish more people knew? Share it in the comments—you might help someone stay safe this week. 💙
