Rate case season is here, and the exposure that decides how it goes is regulatory: how hard a proposed increase gets fought at the commission because of who ends up paying for it.

We scored over 1,000 U.S. electric utilities on that risk. More than 25 million residential customers are served by one in the riskiest 20%, and 59% of those utilities charge at or below the national average rate (PressurePoint, 2026).

A low rate is not protection. The customer mix decides it.

One financial institution spent $60 to open a new checking account, against an industry benchmark closer to $300.

They had the same budget as the year before. What changed was a shorter list, built by behavioral segmentation rather than blanketing the footprint, and cost per acquisition dropped 80%.

One bank's result, not a benchmark. The method is the part worth borrowing, and Matt Reger, an AE at BlastPoint, walks through it in our recent on-demand banking webinar.

As a new credit union CMO, what goes first in the first month?

For BlastPoint’s Co-Founder and CTO Tomer Borenstein, it's the generic mailer. He explains what he'd fund instead, and shares what happened when one small marketing team made that trade: acquisition costs down 80% below market standard, entry markets up 20%.

Study: Only 41% of Power Customers Recall Hearing from Utilities Amid Rising Reliability Struggles 08/06/2026

J.D. Power asked 142,626 electric customers whether they'd heard from their utility. Less than half said yes.

The 2026 Brand Appeal Index puts recall at 41%, with overall brand appeal down four points and a single outage knocking 57 points off how a customer sees their provider. (J.D. Power, 2026)

Volume has a ceiling. The number moves when a household gets something that fits its situation, which means knowing who's on a payment plan and who's still thinking about last month's outage before anyone writes a word.

Study: Only 41% of Power Customers Recall Hearing from Utilities Amid Rising Reliability Struggles Surging energy costs, J.D. Power adds, have not only triggered a sharp reduction in engagement from utilities, but consumers are feeling the financial squeeze.

42% of America's most expensive electric utilities send below-median bills.

Rate explains only 13% of the gap between one utility's bills and another's. The rest comes down to how much energy homes actually use, which depends on climate, heating fuel, and how well houses hold heat. (BlastPoint analysis of EIA Form 861, 2024)

Spending more on marketing did not help credit unions grow last quarter. It often did the opposite.

The lighter-spending group put in about $340 million combined and gained over a million members. The heavier-spending group put in more than $1.3 billion, nearly four times as much, and lost ground. (NCUA call reports, 2026)

The same pattern holds inside every asset band above $100 million: the growers and the non-growers spent the same. Our on-demand webinar has all three moves, plus the numbers to check your own.

The wrong measurement is costing U.S. utilities billions. New data shows what to use instead. - BlastPoint 08/03/2026

One in six U.S. households is behind on their energy bill.
Most utilities know that. What most don't know is where the financial exposure from that actually sits on their balance sheet because they've been measuring the wrong thing.

We looked at 788 electric and gas utilities. The findings are not what the industry expects.
