Slammin' Cans Graffiti Jam is back for 2026!

Join Friends of the Riverfront and Shiftworks at the Color Park on Saturday, October 10, from 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM for a day filled with art, brews, and community fun. Featuring live mural paintings by graffiti artists, a collaborative community mural, brewery pop-ups, and food trucks, this FREE event celebrates a space along the trail meant for art, expression, and community.

On Tuesday, October 6, from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM, join your friends and neighbors for a puppet-making workshop ed by Pittsburgh Creative Corps artist Cheryl Capezzuti. Participants will create puppets inspired by river creatures and other things that live in and around Pittsburgh's waterways. These puppets will become part of the collection available for participants to wear during the Great River Creature Parade at The Last Splash event.

This workshop will be held at Riverlife's Shore Thing. It is free to attend and open to all ages.

A mural on the exterior of the city's newest music venue, Citizens Live at the Wylie is complete. Pittsburgh Creative Corps artists Naomi Chambers, Max Gonzales, and Jameelah Platt worked together to create a an artwork steeped in as much community and history as the neighborhood itself.

Join Yayas Haus this Wednesday, September 23, from noon to 2:00 PM for the last workshop of Shiftworks at Shore Thing this season!

Singing Circle: Sound + Scent + Reflection is a creative wellness workshop designed to foster connection, relaxation, and self-expression. This immersive experience blends gentle vocal practices, live musical guidance, and hands-on creation as participants craft their own custom salt-scrub using natural ingredients and essential oils.

No singing or artistic experience is required - just a willingness to listen, explore and participate at your own comfort level.

SUNDAY, SEPT 20. 2:00–3:30 PM | Art, Sound + Movement at Shelter House, 900 Delmont Avenue. Gather at The Home Court Advantage, Janel Young’s community-inspired mural at Upper McKinley Park for sound and movement activation with Viii Dorsey, followed by Embodied Raja Yoga with Felicia Savage Friedman / Yoga Roots on Location.

This event is free and open to community members, neighbors, and friends of McKinley Park.

Take a tour through secret gardens in Highland Park and East Liberty this Saturday, September 19, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM.

Join artist Carolina Loyola-Garcia for "Love Letters in Secret Gardens" a tour she designed as part of the Psychogeography: City Practice series. This tour will lead participants through amorous letters, gardens, and Madeleine de Scudéry's "map of love." Participants will not need a topographic map, but may leave with a draft of an emotional map and the beginning of a letter.

Deadline Reminder!

On behalf of Friends of the Riverfront, Shiftworks is seeking artists or artist teams to compete in the third annual Slammin' Cans 2026 mural arts festival. Artists and artist teams with little or no mural experience are encouraged to apply. All participating artists will receive hands-on mural-making instruction prior to the event. The deadline to apply is this coming Monday, September 14 at 11:59 PM.

Co-organized by muralist and Pittsburgh Creative Corps artist Max Gonzales, the festival will feature 10 artists or artist teams competing for a commission opportunity to design b**r can artwork for one b**r produced by one of the three participating member breweries of the Pittsburgh Brewers Guild.

This RFQ is open to any artist or artist team who has not participated in a previous Slammin' Cans event and who lives and works within the 13-county region of southwestern Pennsylvania.
