Resurrection Parish

It’s a special day in the City of Pittsburgh! Councilwoman Theresa Kail Smith sponsored proclamations from the City Council declaring today, September 30, as Bishop Emeritus David A. Zubik and Bishop Mark A. Eckman Day!
The proclamations took place today in the City Council Chambers of the City-County Building in Downtown Pittsburgh. They honored Bishop Zubik’s faithful service to the Catholic Church and the Diocese of Pittsburgh for more than five decades, and Bishop Eckman’s devotion to serving of God and the people of the Diocese of Pittsburgh through his decades of ministry.
Congratulations to both of our bishops! Please say a prayer for them today. 🙏🏻🥳🙏🏻 Diocese of Pittsburgh U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops

HOLY FACE OF JESUS
PRAYERS FOR REPARATION

You are warmly invited to join us for the Holy Face of Jesus Prayers for Reparation at St. John Capistran Church beginning on October 6. We will gather every Tuesday at 5:15PM before silent Eucharistic Adoration begins (the first week only, we will begin at 6:00PM). These prayers are offered in reparation for the outrages that the Holy Face of Jesus received during His passion and continues to receive in the Most Holy Eucharist.
This Church-approved devotion was given by Jesus to Blessed Mother Maria Pierina, with Our Lord specifically requesting that His Holy Face be honored on Tuesdays.
We hope you can join us for this dedicated time of prayer and adoration.

BECOME A ROMAN CATHOLIC!!
ORDER OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS

Are you thinking about becoming a Catholic? Do you know someone else who is thinking about it? Take the first step.
Contact the Parish office and ask to be directed to the O.C.I.A. Coordinator. We are happy to guide you in your faith journey! ✝️🙏🏻🕊️

October in the Catholic Church is traditionally known as the month of the Rosary. Last year, we began a tradition on the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary to pray a rosary for peace in our world.

The rosary will be said on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, 7:00 PM at St. Thomas More. After each decade, Daniel Kovacic, our Director of Music, will play an organ improvisation on the mystery of the rosary.

We hope that you can come and pray with us and our world and ask the Blessed Mother to intercede for us and our needs.

LITURGY OF THE HOURS EACH WEEKDAY!

Please join us for Liturgy of the Hours, the ancient, official and highest prayer of the Church that radiates from the daily Eucharistic Liturgy to sanctify all hours of work and prayer. The two “hinge” hours are Morning and Evening Prayer which integrate the Word of God and the Psalms into the age of the Church. The liturgical season, or feast is expressed to prepare us for and to safeguard us after receiving the Eucharist.

Let us open our lips in Morning Prayer before we set our bodies to the tasks of the day. “I will pray to you, O Lord, you will hear my voice in the morning; I will stand before you in the morning and gaze on you” (Ps 5:45). Let us offer our praise and thanksgiving to God with intercession for the salvation of the world!

We hope this expanded schedule will offer more opportunity for us to gather as one in the Body of Christ before the celebration of Mass in our parish.

Beginning October 5, Morning Prayer will be offered before Mass on Mondays and Tuesdays (11:10AM STM) and Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (8:10AM SJC).

Easy to follow booklets are provided.
