FAME

Please join us in welcoming Jane Lee as our new Director of Development at FAME!

Jane brings extensive nonprofit development experience to FAME, with a strong background in donor stewardship and cultivation, grant writing, prospect research, fundraising, and relationship-building.

Before joining FAME, Jane served as Development Director at both PennFuture and Women for a Healthy Environment. Her nonprofit career also includes leadership roles with the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh and YouthPlaces, where her work spanned education, STEAM programming, and development.

Jane holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Pittsburgh and began her career as an environmental chemist before moving into product management, sales, education, and nonprofit leadership. This unique combination of experiences has developed her thoughtful, relationship-centered approach to development.

Outside of work, Jane enjoys crafting, reading, traveling, singing in her church choir, and spending time with her family.

We are excited to welcome Jane to the FAME team and look forward to the experience, energy, and perspective she will bring as we continue creating opportunities for FAME Scholars and families.

Once a FAME Scholar, always part of the FAME-ly! 🖤

Today, FAME celebrates 33 years of impact!

FAME was founded in 1993 with a vision to create greater educational opportunities for Black students in the Pittsburgh region and help build a pathway to greater representation and leadership in our community.

Working in partnership with local independent schools (Sewickley Academy, The Ellis School, Shady Side Academy, St. Edmunds Academy, and Wi******er Thurston School ), that vision began with scholarships and support for a small group of students.

Thirty-three years later, FAME has grown and evolved, expanding beyond scholarships to provide academic, leadership, and enrichment opportunities that help Scholars learn, grow, and thrive.

Today, we celebrate the Scholars and families who are at the heart of our work, the many people and partners who have helped build FAME along the way, and all that is still ahead.

Here’s to 33 years of creating opportunities, building futures, and believing in what’s possible.

Learning doesn't stop when school is out! ☀️This summer, rising senior Kree and rising junior Tiara participated in the University of Pittsburgh's Gene Team Program, where they spent four weeks conducting biological research, building college-ready skills, and learning alongside students from across the region. 🔬🧪

To wrap up the program, they presented their research to family, friends, Pitt scientists, and community members.

We're so proud of you, Kree and Tiara, for challenging yourselves, embracing new opportunities, and confidently sharing your work. The future is bright!

Some experiences leave you with more than memories—they leave you with a new perspective.

After attending the TMCF SOAR Program at Cheyney University, rising senior Tayshawn shared these reflections with us:

"It's because of my village that my identity was accepted and reaffirmed... it's because of my village that I now walk in rooms not afraid to show the depth of my personality... it's because of my village that I received my first college acceptance and academic scholarship... and it's because of my village that I have a new fire lit under me to lead... proud to say that I am a FAME Scholar and destined for greatness."

We're incredibly proud of the confidence, leadership, and growth you've shown, Tayshawn. Thank you for reminding us why building a strong village matters. ❤️🖤

Father's Day looks different depending on who you ask: a dad who's there every day, an uncle who stepped up, a granddad who never left, a father still figuring it out and trying anyway, or one we're remembering today because he's no longer here.

We're not celebrating the "perfect" dads today. We're celebrating all of them and honoring the ones we've lost.

Believe. Guide. Encourage. Keep Showing Up.

Happy Father's Day from all of us at FAME. 🖤

As we celebrate Juneteenth, we honor the enduring pursuit of freedom, opportunity, and educational access. At FAME, we believe education opens doors and creates pathways to a brighter future. Through scholarships, academic enrichment, mentorship, and leadership development, we work to ensure FAME Scholars have the opportunity to thrive and become the next generation of leaders. Together, we continue to build futures and expand possibilities for all. 💙🤍❤️🖤
