When we love our homes, our lives are changed forever. Mae Reedy Design + Build is an award-winning, woman-owned firm based in the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex. We specialize in full-service renovations, offering a seamless experience from concept to completion. With deep roots in construction and a background in fine art, founder Mae Reedy leads each project as both General Contractor and Principal Designer—bringing a unique, design-driven approach to every home. Known for an aesthetic of quiet luxury and intentional detail, our work blends beauty with purpose. We believe that a well-designed space should reflect the way you live, not just how it looks. Whether reimagining a dated bathroom or executing a full-home renovation, we guide our clients through the process with creativity, transparency, and care. As a firm, we value relationships as much as results. We take the time to truly listen—translating budgets and wish lists into spaces that feel both elevated and deeply personal. Our team is committed to making the construction process as smooth as possible for busy families, couples, and professionals alike. Proudly woman-owned and actively involved in NARI, IDS, and NKBA, Mae Reedy Design + Build has been recognized with national design awards and featured on platforms like Good Morning Texas, Apartment Therapy, and Houzz. We don’t just build beautiful homes—we build trust, connection, and spaces that mean something.

Stop being scared of open shelving.

Most of it looks cluttered or cheap because the shelving itself is flimsy. Custom brass is a different story. It holds real weight, it looks like a design piece, and it keeps a bar feeling open instead of boxed in behind cabinet doors.

Follow for more on getting open shelving right.

Where do you put 30 bottles and still keep the counter clear? Right here.

Every bottle, mixer, and tool has a spot. We used Rev-A-Shelf pull-outs so all of it stays hidden behind clean doors but is right there when you need it.

What would you store in yours? Tell us below.

This countertop is hiding a secret.

We didn’t put a single outlet on the backsplash. There’s one built right into the counter that pops up when you need it and disappears when you don’t.

Bar remodel in Plano: what we’d do with your formal dining room if you let us.

Be honest, when did you last use your formal dining room? Most people never do. So here’s how we’d turn that wasted room into the one you actually live in: clear it out, build floor-to-ceiling, tuck in the fridges, hide the function, and give it a real showpiece moment.

Which of these would you want most? Tell us below.

Same footprint, feels twice the size. Here’s the one move that did it.

We swapped the bulky built-in tub for a freestanding one, relocated the shower entrance, and added a pony wall to open up the sightlines. No square footage added. Sometimes better planning beats a bigger room.

Follow for more small-space design tricks that actually work.
