The Local Good Center is here to create lasting good within our local community. Located in Plano.

The Local Good Center exists to create lasting good within our community by providing access and empowerment for those in need. We do this through four pillar programs: education, advocacy, wellness, and job readiness.

Asking the right questions isn't optional — it's crucial. It's what separates candidates who seem desperate for any job from those who clearly know what they want and why they're sitting in that chair. Intentional questions signal to the hiring manager that you're genuinely interested in this role, this team, this opportunity. And equally important — they help you figure out if this is somewhere you actually want to land.

#1 on this list takes courage, but it almost guarantees you'll be remembered. gives you a real-time opportunity to speak directly to their concerns — before the interview ends and before doubt has a chance to settle.

If you're working on interview confidence, question prep, or any part of your job search journey, we're here for it. You don't have to figure this out alone.

J graduated from Emily's Place — and we couldn't be prouder. 💙

When J first came to Emily's Place, she had a dream of working in healthcare and the determination to get there. What she needed was someone to help her find the path.

That's where Erielle came in.

As J's job readiness coach, Erielle walked alongside her through every step — exploring career options in the medical field, identifying certification pathways, strengthening her resume, and preparing her for opportunities she hadn't yet imagined for herself. When applications didn't pan out, Erielle helped J see something most people miss in those moments: she was getting further each time. The setbacks weren't stops — they were proof she was growing.

And grow she did.

J landed a front desk/medical assistant role in a clinical setting, gained real-world experience in the field she loves, and built the confidence, resilience, and skills to keep climbing. She walked across that finish line having done the hard work — and today, she is an Emily's Place graduate.

This is what career coaching looks like here. Not just a job, but a foundation. Not just a milestone, but a transformation.

And none of it happens without coaches like Erielle — volunteers who show up week after week and give something that can't be programmed or automated: genuine belief in another person.

✨ Do you have a few hours a month and a heart for people? We'd love to have you on our coaching team.

🌟 Y'ALL. We are BEAMING. 🌟

This past spring, we in the Job Readiness program got to do something really special — partner with Plano ISD's Collegiate Academy to help a group of Wildcats prepare for the Plano Summer Mayoral Internship Program interviews. And we just found out how it went…

🎉 Morgan → Boeing
🎉 Goodness → PepsiCo
🎉 Melody → Plano Prosecution Office
🎉 Oluwatoyin → Children's Health
🎉 Samuel → Plano Library
🎉 Carson → Plano Symphony

SIX students. SIX internships. We are in AWE. 😭✨

And listen — every single Wildcat who walked in and interviewed? They put in the WORK. Every one of them showed up ready, and we are proud of ALL of them.

A massive, heartfelt thank you to Nancy Smith, Collegiate Academy Counselor extraordinaire, who went so far above and beyond her job description for these kids. Nancy, you are the real deal. 💛

And to our INCREDIBLE volunteers who poured into these students with mock interviews, honest evaluations, and genuine encouragement — you changed lives:

✨ Ben Brown — who also led a workshop like the absolute rockstar he is
✨ Devin Eller
✨ Dayonne Mixon
✨ Meleah Covin
✨ Keyla Kirton
✨ Alison Fong
✨ Rami Ben Flah
✨ Cynthia Woo

This is exactly why we do what we do. This is community. This is what showing up for the next generation looks like.

Wildcats, we see you. We're cheering for you. Go get it. 🐾💪
