Hollister Stringed Instruments

This is a post about economics and nothing more. The truth about tariffs is the importer (receiver of goods) pays the tariff. I have the receipts to prove it. I bought a fine set of F5 mandolin tuners from Germany. That purchase included my paying a tariff for their trip across the pond. Now, I will answer the question of why not buy ‘made in USA’? Truth is, I always look to do this, but when equal value cannot be had, I use the concept of ‘free market’ to find the best value for the money. I do this with my customers in mind as I want them to have the best value for their money in what I build for them. If a company in this country were to produce said mandolin tuners of equal or better value, I’d be first in line to buy them. ‘Nuf said.

Happy birthday to the legendary Doyle Lawson. He was kind enough to play one of my mandolin builds and give me some feedback at a local festival. I’ll add that the local festival was the Bloomin’ Bluegrass Festival put on by the Bluegrass Heritage Foundation who have done so much to foster and promote bluegrass music in North Texas. If you’re interested in all that they do, check the organization out at BluegrassHeritage.org
