Sorry y’all, I normally don’t get in people’s business—especially people I don’t know—but I’m so tired of seeing people talk about Megan Thee Stallion’s “body count” like that defines her. She’s only 31. Bringing up who she dated or slept with in her twenties is irrelevant and honestly unfair. She fell in love and chose to express that love openly. She met that man’s family, supported him, and seemed genuine about the relationship. Then he cheated on her and said he wasn’t ready for commitment. Somehow social media is still finding a way to make it her fault because she’s a rapper.

We all know the industry pushes a certain image, and everyone is entitled to their opinion about that—but she is still a human being outside of the persona. People need to learn how to separate the artist from the person. There are plenty of male rappers who rap about drugs, using women, and reckless behavior, yet in real life they don’t even live that way or they’re happily married. But when Megan raps about money, confidence, and getting what she deserves, people act like that’s all she is.

In reality, she’s also a woman who worked hard, got her Bachelor of Science degree from an HBCU in honor of her mother and grandmother after they passed away, and has been honest about her struggles with anxiety and depression while still performing under constant public scrutiny. That takes strength.

I feel for Megan because she loved openly. Maybe she moved too fast, like a lot of women do when we think we’ve finally found something real—someone safe, someone solid, someone who might be the end of all the exhausting dating struggles. Sometimes we get excited because we want to believe this one is different.

So as a woman, I sympathize with her. She’s being dragged through the mud over her past, while the real issue is that a man publicly loved her, posted her, let her care for him and his family, then turned around, cheated, and said he wasn’t ready for monogamy. That kind of hurt is real. Maybe I understand because I’ve been through similar situations—where someone shows you their representative in the beginning, then later reveals they wer
