Plantation Local Fair

Welcoming everyone to Sunday morning classes Oct 11th!! Classes are free during the Plantation Local Fair 9 am - 1 pm!

We're excited to see you at the Plantation Local Fair on Sunday, October 11th. We answer some frequently asked questions here!

Here's some history for those who are not familiar with our location! Frederick Peters moved here in 1931 to escape the harsh Midwest winters. He purchased 10,000 acres along State Road 7/441 and hired noted architect Russell Pancoast to develop a City master plan. The first construction took place on East Acre Drive by Chauncey Clark. The idea was to entice people to buy “long acres,” which were one-acre lots with 2/3 of the land dedicated to gardens and fruit trees. The plan was to create a co-op farmer’s market where residents could pool their produce and sell it for a profit.

The City of Plantation was incorporated on April 30, 1953 and the first Council Meeting was held in an old feed warehouse near the intersection of East Acre Drive and Broward Boulevard.

This is exactly where we are located! We are in the same place as the founders of the city, carrying on their original intention of having residents sell and trade their items locally.

This is the purpose of our local Plantation market, and our hearts couldn't be fuller knowing we are continuing a mission of nature and community focused practices. Grow your own food, make your own items, and support each other.
