Today marks 10 years since I survived the Pulse Nightclub Shooting. 🤎✨

I’ve learned that:
•Healing can’t be rushed.
•Your dreams never die.
•God is always accessible.
•And You get to choose to write a new story any time. So make it a good one.

I can truly say today, after all these years I am grateful to be alive. 🙏🏾🕊️

I wanted to end the last Friday of Mental Health Awareness month with some hope. For anyone who has struggled to maintain their positive expectations that GOOD things can happen for them.

So grateful for my team, my family, who have my back even when my brain gets foggy, and even when my emotions dip so low I forget who I am.

I am grateful for the people God placed around me to remind me of who I am every single day.

Who do you have reminding you of who YOU are?

And if you don’t have anyone. Then YOU will have to be the one to remind you of who you are.

You will have to create a system for remembering how far you’ve come and how worthy you are of letting your light shine too.

But I kept showing up anyway. As a wife, mom, and creative.

Sometimes that’s all you have to do, is keep moving forward. Even when everything feels uncertain.

To everyone struggling with their mental health, the fog doesn’t last forever. And the sun truly does shine again.

Some people may not understand your joy, some may be skeptical of your sincereness when you smile — but smile anyway. Be joyful anyway. Let your light shine, like it was sent on assignment anyway. Because it was. You are meant to light up the world. And no permission is needed for that. No Tragedy or trauma, no betrayal or hurt can diminish destiny. You were destined to shine, so shine on beautiful. 💐

Signs from God are everywhere 🤎 came to my home this week to film for a documentary they are producing and and her team did such an incredible job of asking questions that made me re-evaluate my divine purpose after surviving the Pulse Nightclub shooting. The deeper why I survived is something I’ve contemplated a lot, but I know it’s connected to inspiring other survivors to keep their light on, and reframe their identity, from survivor mentality to champion mentality. To keep believing that beautiful things can happen for them even after tragedy. To dream big dreams. I can’t wait for this documentary to be released because I believe it gives a well rounded picture of the journey so far, and everything I learned. But I am so grateful for this moment because I realized - I have so much more to do to help others. And that was the biggest sign and confirmation I needed. 🙏🏾🤎 Reminder: Your voice carries weight, and your testimony is needed.

Her story embodies beauty and transformation. ✨🌸 I had the honor of meeting at the and grabbing her book “The Voices of my Wounds,” her journey is so remarkable. In many ways I feel like her strength and vulnerability helped me understand what my mom may have gone through. It’s interesting how your closure can be connected to someone’s experience, the answers you never got, or the perspectives you never heard.
