A good set of plans gives a project direction, but field coordination keeps the work moving.
At Riverstone Plaza, our team reviewed the underground plumbing connections before the slab pour. As some locations had changed during construction, we walked the site and coordinated with the owner and contractor to confirm where each connection needed to be.
Catching these details at this stage helps prevent conflicts, unnecessary rework, and costly adjustments later.

The flooding in Nepal is a powerful reminder of how quickly nature can overwhelm the places we call home.
Here in South Florida, our risks may look different. Hurricanes, intense rainfall, storm surge, flooding, and the realities of building in a water-sensitive environment are all part of what our communities must prepare for.
As engineers and designers, we understand that we cannot control nature or completely eliminate every threat.
All structures are temporary in nature (literally). It really comes down to how long we want them to last and how well we prepare them for the forces they may face. When 100-year or even 1,000-year events come, the best we can do is mitigate the risks to the best of our ability, design for resilience, and pray that G-d keeps us protected.
Our responsibility is to understand those risks, plan for them, and continue working toward safer, stronger, and more resilient communities.
Our hearts go out to the people of Nepal and to every family and community affected by this tragedy. We wish them strength, safety, and recovery.

September 11 began like any ordinary morning.
Students went to school. Parents headed to work. Offices opened. Phones rang. Coffee was poured. People started their day expecting it to be just that, another ordinary day.
Then everything changed.
Twenty-five years later, we remember the lives lost, the families whose lives were forever changed, and the courage of the first responders and everyday people who stepped forward when they were needed most.
From all of us at NOHMIS, we pause today to remember.
Honoring the lives. Remembering the courage.
