Let's set the record straight with Percy. 🐾
❌ Myth: A high energy dog is a handful.
✅ Fact: Percy is 60 pounds of enthusiasm that is looking for somewhere to go - and a confident handler who can channel it is going to have the time of their life doing exactly that.
❌ Myth: A dog who needs a strong handler is difficult.
✅ Fact: Percy is friendly, dog tolerant, and genuinely one of the happiest dogs in the building. He just needs someone confident enough to match his energy. That is not a red flag. That is a job description.
❌ Myth: Class Clown is not a real qualification.
✅ Fact: The 2026 Haven Superlatives voters disagree. Percy was elected by a landslide and he has been living up to the title every single day since.
❌ Myth: A dog who is still figuring things out isn't ready for a home.
✅ Fact: Percy is almost one year old, full of love, and doing his very best every single day. The right home is not going to inherit a problem - they are going to watch him grow into the very good boy he is already becoming. 💚

SHE WAS FOUND LYING IN THE BUSHES, UNABLE TO STAND. 💔 TODAY, WE ARE FIGHTING TO MAKE SURE AZALEA GETS THE CHANCE TO STAND AGAIN.
For those of you who follow Everglades Angels Dog Rescue, you may remember Azalea, the beautiful American Bulldog who was found abandoned in the bushes, unable to support herself.
Azalea has already seen a neurologist and a surgeon because she cannot bear weight on her right leg. When she tries to walk, she can collapse forward, planting on her neck and chest. It is dangerous and heartbreaking to watch.
The doctors' recommendation right now is to give the swelling around her shoulder time to come down and see if her leg will eventually regain enough strength to support her.
In the meantime, we are fighting for every bit of progress we can get. With the help of a physical therapist, Azalea will begin exercises to keep her healthy legs strong and prevent muscle loss. In approximately 30 days, she will return to the hospital for another evaluation. If her leg has not improved, amputation may become part of the conversation.
But we are not there yet.
Right now, we have hope. And as long as there is hope, we will fight. ❤️
And Azalea? She is one of the sweetest souls you will ever meet. After everything she has endured, she still looks at people with trust and love. She deserves the chance to heal.

Raven thinks about certain things constantly. Like, all the time. Without being asked. During walks. During hose time. During the brief moments between hose time and the next hose time.
Raven's Roman Empire is:
🌊 That one hose session from last Thursday that was genuinely her best work - the angle, the commitment, the complete disregard for being wet. A masterpiece. She thinks about it daily.
🏄 The intracoastal - the smell of it, the feel of it, the absolute certainty that she belongs near it at all times. An ongoing and very serious relationship.
🧠 The agility course that doesn't exist yet but absolutely should - she has been mentally running it for months and her times are excellent
🎾 Whoever is currently holding the ball - where are they, are they going to throw it, the answer had better be yes
🏡 Her forever family - active, adventurous, ready for a dog who gives everything she has to everything she does. She thinks about them constantly and she is beyond ready. 💚
She is a bowling ball of love with the athleticism to back it up - and she is waiting for a home that can keep up with all of it.

Onyx has thoughts. He has been sitting with them quietly for a while. He is ready now. 🐾
🔥 Independent living experience is an underrated quality in a rescue dog. Onyx spent months on his own in a plant nursery in the Redlands and came out of it with the most easygoing temperament in the building. Coincidence? He thinks not.
🔥 Most Likely to Sleep All Day is not an insult. It is a lifestyle and Onyx has fully committed to it. His couch game is immaculate.
🔥 The argument that a dog who once wouldn't come near humans can't be trusted is simply not supported by the evidence. Onyx is the evidence. He would like to rest his case.
🔥 No restrictions means no restrictions. Dogs, cats, kids, everyone - Onyx gets along with all of them and he finds the surprise on people's faces very funny.
🔥 The right home has not found Onyx yet and that is genuinely one of the great mysteries of our time. He is easy, gentle, and completely lovable. He will be here when you are ready. 💚
He went from a plant nursery to being one of the most beloved dogs in the building - and he did it entirely on his own terms.

Audie has considered things. He has strong feelings. He always does. 🐾
🍖 Receiving Gifts - treats specifically, consistently, and in meaningful quantities. This is not negotiable and he does not apologize for it. It is also extremely useful for training and he would like that noted.
🎾 Quality Time - active, engaged, all-in time. Toys, play, movement - he shows up for all of it completely and he needs a person who does the same.
💬 Words of Affirmation - "good boy" after a breakthrough training moment is his entire reason for existing and he will work very hard to hear it again and again and again
😄 Acts of Service - structure, consistency, a committed training program - he does not experience these as limitations. He experiences them as someone believing in him. That is everything.
🤝 Physical Touch - goofy, enthusiastic, fully committed affection from his person at the end of a long day of being absolutely a lot
Primary love language: Being invested in. An experienced home that sees past the chaos to the loyal, capable, endlessly entertaining dog underneath - and decides he is worth the work. Because he is. He really, really is. 💚

🎉🎉 ADOPTION ANNOUNCEMENT 🎉🎉
Hope's story has its happily ever after - and it was written by the people who never left her side. 💛
When Hope came to us back in January, she had been hit by a car and left on the side of the road - pregnant, injured, and alone. Her road to recovery was long and hard. Surgery, antibiotics, setbacks, and so much uncertainty. But through all of it, she remained gentle, trusting, and full of love - a true symbol of her name.
Foster moms Adrianna & Toni refused to give up on her. They showed up every step of the way, including through her full therapy and recovery - capped off by a Magna Wave treatment generously donated by Laurie Resee, who works with both horses and dogs using this healing therapy. That gift helped get Hope across the finish line!
And then they made it official. Hope is home - for good - with the family that carried her through the hardest chapter of her life, and fur sister Romina by her side. 🐾

🪢 Physical Touch - the zoomies always end somewhere close to her person and she intends to stay there until the next round of zoomies begins
💬 Words of Affirmation - "good girl" after a particularly committed hose-chasing session is her entire reason for being and she will do absolutely anything to hear it again

🍖 Receiving Gifts - treats, toys, the hose turned on specifically for her - she accepts all of it with the energy of someone who has been waiting her whole life for exactly this
Primary love language: Being matched. Someone who shows up with the same energy she brings - bold, committed, all in - and loves her as hard as she loves them back. That is everything. 💚

Dear Forever Family,
I want to show you something. 🤍
There is a photo of me with one of my volunteers. We are both losing our minds with happiness. Her face. My face. The pure, unfiltered joy of two beings who have decided they are absolutely thrilled to be in each other's presence.
That could be us.
I know I have a reputation for being shy. I know it takes me a little time to decide someone is safe. But when I decide? When I really decide? That photo is what happens. That is who I am underneath all the initial reserve - a dog who loves his person so completely and so enthusiastically that it shows up on both of our faces at the same time. 🐾
I need a calm home without small children. Someone patient enough to let me come around on my own terms. Someone who knows that the best things take a little time and is willing to wait for it.
Because on the other side of that wait is this. The walks where I pick the route. The kisses that the volunteers voted Best in the building. The kind of loyalty that doesn't waver - not even a little.
That photo is a promise, Forever Family. I make it to you right now.

Dear Forever Family,
I have been thinking about you. A lot. Basically constantly. That is just who I am and I think you should know that going in. 🤍
Here is what life with me looks like. We wake up. We go on a walk - a real one, with purpose and intention and at least one lizard sighting that I will need a moment to process. You are confident and steady beside me and I am completely, entirely in my element. This is our morning. We do this every day. 🦎
Then we come home. And I find you. Wherever you are in the house, I find you, and I settle in as close as physically possible and I stay there. Some people call this velcro behavior. I call it devotion. There is a difference and I feel strongly about it.
I give my whole heart to my person. Not a portion of it. Not when it is convenient. All of it, every day, without reservation. I am not a background dog. I am a co-pilot. A companion. The most loyal girl you have ever had the privilege of knowing. 🐾
I need a confident handler who can keep up on walks. In return I will be everything you never knew you needed and everything you will never want to live without.
The lizard surveillance is non-negotiable. I think you are going to love it.
