Digging holes has become the rite of passage for Jackson Lab. We all love and hate it. Love seeing new plants in the ground, hate how many rocks we have on campus (makes digging holes so hard!)
Making more progress on the long road to planting the Commons Experimental Forest. This area is so heavily invaded by non-native plants that we have to put in tons of site prep work to get it ready! But the first round of tarps came off today and it's great to see the progress!

Excited to introduce a new group of amazing land stewardship interns this fall! I can already tell this is a tree hugging, flower loving, hard working crew!
Everyone is working on NYSDEC funded projects to help make SUNY Purchase a better place.

It was a rainy but fun day at the Lower Hudson PRISM
July meeting! We got to bioblitz and learn new gear and techniques and learn about ticks! And I got to see Ashlee and Corey who just graduated and hear all about their big kid jobs! (Thanks Corey for the pic!)
Old hats made me realize I'm starting my 10th year of teaching!

Do you think extra signage will get folks to stay on the trail this year? We are trying to get the word out!

We were lucky enough to get funding from the ENV department to send three students to the ReLeaf Conference last week, which is all about urban forestry and had a lot of sessions related to the Community Reforestation grant program. They learned so much that we will put into action in our big Commons project!!!
Ok starting to see something that could become a forest...
