Here are 5 clear signs of gaslighting, the quiet mind game that fractures trust with yourself and keeps people emotionally stuck.

Gaslighting isn’t subtle because it’s harmless.
It’s subtle because it’s strategic.

And here’s the good news:
Once you name it, it loses power.

You keep calling it spiritual warfare every time someone gets close.

But have you considered that intimacy makes you uncomfortable because you never experienced emotional safety growing up?

You pray for a godly spouse…
Then sabotage every healthy connection.

You ask God for love…
Then panic when someone actually loves you.

That may not be warfare.

That may be an unhealed attachment wound.

And prayer is powerful, but sometimes God answers your prayer by leading you into the healing you’ve been avoiding.

Betrayal trauma is trauma and impact the person in different levels.

1. You cannot receive feedback without becoming defensive or withdrawing, this is a shame response in a leadership context. Unhealed shame treats honest input as an attack on identity rather than information for growth.

2. You make decisions faster under pressure than the situation requires hypervigilance trained your nervous system to act quickly to neutralise threat. In leadership, this looks decisive. It is often reactive.

3. You over-function when your team under-functions, taking back work, solving problems people should solve, staying late to cover what others missed. This is a control response that mirrors the child who learned they could not trust others to come through.

4. You need your team to like you more than you need to tell them the truth the approval-seeking of an unhealed attachment wound operating through a leadership title.

5. Conflict in your organisation goes unaddressed for too long because confronting it activates your own unresolved relational wounds. Unhealed leaders avoid conflict until it becomes crisis.
Dr. Ronald Heifetz at Harvard Kennedy School distinguishes between technical problems solved with expertise and adaptive challenges solved only through personal and organisational change. Most leadership failures are not technical. They are adaptive. And adaptive challenges require a leader willing to examine themselves as part of the system. 2 Corinthians 13:5 examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith. The Greek word for examine is to test, to prove, to put to the trial. The leader who refuses self-examination does not lead. They manage. From behind glass they will not walk through

A trauma-informed coach doesn’t diagnose your wounds. We help you recognize the patterns they may have created, build new skills, and move forward with greater awareness and intention

09/23/2026

Have you considered that it’s not witchcraft?

Have you considered that it’s not spiritual warfare?

What if the reason you keep pushing good people away is because your nervous system learned that closeness is dangerous?

What if it’s childhood trauma?
What if it’s betrayal from your past relationship?
What if it’s an avoidant attachment pattern?

Not every uncomfortable relationship experience is a demon.

Sometimes, healing requires you to stop rebuking what you need to start understanding.

Just a thought. 👀

What an honor it was to coach someone who has been in the therapy field for over 20 years and hear their testimony about how our coaching work made a meaningful difference in their life.

It’s a powerful reminder that being in the helping profession doesn’t mean we’ve addressed every blind spot in our own lives.

Therapists, coaches, pastors, and other helping professionals are human too. We can spend years helping others navigate healing while still having areas within ourselves that need awareness, growth, and intentional work.

That’s where trauma-informed coaching can be so valuable. Not because coaching replaces therapy, but because it can provide a different space for insight, accountability, practical transformation, and moving forward.

Expertise in helping others does not exempt us from needing help ourselves.

Sometimes the person who helps everyone else needs a safe space to be helped, too.

Neuroscientist Dr. Andrew Newberg at Thomas Jefferson University has spent decades imaging the brains of people during active worship and prayer. His findings: During genuine worship: The parietal lobe responsible for the sense of separate self quiets down. The boundary between you and the transcendent softens. The frontal lobe attention, intention, and meaning-making activates intensely. You become extraordinarily present. The limbic system: emotion and memory engages deeply. Healing-relevant emotional processing becomes available. Cortisol, the stress hormone, measurably decreases. Oxytocin the bonding and trust hormone increases.
In plain language: your brain enters its most integrated state during genuine worship. Threat decreases. Presence increases. The walls between your rational self and your emotional self thin. This is why the trauma survivor who cannot access their wound in therapy can sometimes access it in worship. Not because God is a shortcut, but because worship creates the neurological conditions for the kind of safety healing requires. Psalm 22:3 God inhabits the praises of His people. The Hebrew word inhabits is yashab to dwell, to settle, to remain. He does not visit worship. He settles there. And His settled presence is neurologically measurable.
