Higher Elevations Learning Place

September 3 our children moved up. That morning, the children who were ready for the next classroom walked into new rooms across Higher Elevations: fresh shelves to explore, a chair with their name on it, and a teacher waiting to greet them. Moving up is a big step for someone this small, and it is where confidence grows. We move each child up when they are ready for it, on their own timeline. Watching them rise to something new is one of the joys of a new school year.

Some of our best ideas at Higher Elevations come from our parents.

Through our Parent Advisory Council, families have a real voice in the life of our school, from the calendar and closures to the ways we can better support our teachers and community.

We are a better school because our families help shape it. To every parent who gives their time, ideas, and perspective to the Council, thank you. We are grateful to be building Higher Elevations with you.

Kids outgrow costumes faster than they outgrow Halloween. For our families, the Costume Swap at Higher Elevations is a wonderful way to celebrate their growth. Bring one your child has grown out of, take home another that fits, and give an old favorite a second Halloween. It happens Friday, September 25. There is real joy in watching a cape or a crown find its next kid.

At Higher Elevations, parents help run the school. Our Parent Advisory Council is a group of our families who shape our calendar, share ideas that lift our teachers, and build community across the center. It is open to new members right now, and any HELP parent can join. The whole thing asks about 45 minutes, once every couple of months.

Halloween is almost here at Higher Elevations, and this year we are swapping. Our Costume Swap lands on Friday, September 25. Here is how it works: bring in a costume your child has grown out of, and pick out another one for them to wear. Families are invited to drop off or shop during pick-up or morning drop off. Every costume finds a new child, and a good outfit gets a second life.

Last Tuesday, we welcomed new children to our preschool rooms, the Cascades. First mornings matter, so we keep them gentle. Families stayed a little longer this morning to hang up a coat, share breakfast, and play before they head out. A child who gets to show a parent their new cubby settles in more easily. When a parent can't stay for extended drop off, the 1:1 Teacher connection with children is always there for comfort.

We are glad to watch these new friends find their place at Higher Elevations.
