August is always a busy month in my lil bubble. Being a morning person helps. Up early to get in some pedal time and coffee The Dragonfly Coffee House before stepping to the bench.
I started a repair on a Lobster on a Rock which requires stripping the powder coat with 🔥. Another reason I’m not a huge fan of powder coating. Plastic is NOT fantastic. Randy’s seattube repair is coming along and I made a new outdoor kitchen shelf for my pizza oven, grill and Service Course, LLC wash bucket. I approach life in that order. Good food, clean bikes.
Tyler’s new lugged CX rim brake stead is off to paint and I’ll have a couple bikes at MADE in the , 日東隆久 and mkspedal booth. Come say hello!

Beautiful metallic blue paint by Eric Dungey, of course. ENVE Composites adventure fork and stem painted to match. Happy riding, John!

Sometimes I feel like a Timex on the bike. Today’s ride with Breakfast Club was fantastic with many great people I don’t see enough. The route and weather were perfect too. A fast downhill with a tight corner would have been smooth but the car coming the other way spooked a few of us and the weedy ditch was the only option. I’m ok and will be back for sure. I wouldn’t trade the day in anyway. Sometimes you come off and get hurt. It happens. My SMITH Optics helmet with MIPS worked perfectly and I’m not concussed. Sadly I didn’t take many photos but the conversations were great!
Process update on Tucker’s CX frame. Fresh n hot Richard Sachs Cycles Newvex lugs still gooey with flux. There is a beauty to the balanced proportions of steel tubes brazed into lugs. Stance and elegance is important!

John’s new Adventure machine is headed to Tucson this week. The bright green color and pouncing stance are spot on. Wheels by We Are One Composites and laced by Sugar Wheel Works. Matte Mango Chris King Precision Components hubs with other bits in black. Axs dropper and rear mech with Hope Technology calipers. The special sauce fades into the overall flavor here. This bike is ready for everything with the Paragon Machine Works sliders too! Ti bolts by Wolf Tooth Components holding down the Ti cages by Ron Andrews. Custom stem clamping onto Ti bars.
