Pulling together a small gathering for the homies to experience this film together. Adapted from Kahlil Joseph’s renowned video art installation, it’s a distinctive cinematic experience that mirrors the sonic textures of a record album — weaving fiction and history in an immersive journey where the figures of W.E.B. Du Bois and Marcus Garvey join artists, musicians, Joseph’s family, and even Twitter chats, in a vision for Black consciousness.

This one’s a space for us — created by and for the Black community to sit with the work together, unpack it, and just be. 🖤

Join us for a hands-on papermaking workshop at Black Futures Farm. Turn food waste into fiber into handmade paper you’ll use at our next gathering!

Join artist and scholar Morrison Joy Ancestral Flowers who will be leading this workshop!

This gathering is part of Ancestral Flowers’ Grounding with Nature series, in collaboration with Black Futures Farm and supported in part by Oregon Metro.

🌾 Space is limited to 20 participants — save your spot!

Each participant will walk away with their own handmade 5x7 journal, bound with stick and twine — minimum 10 pages, with room to grow if time and weather are on our side.

This past Saturday BFF staff and friends toured Happiness Family Farm with Japhety. The farm was founded in 2016 by Japhety’s parents and operates on about 6.5 acres of land between two locations. Happiness Family Farm provides organic produce to its community through farmers’ markets and CSA programs, and supplies produce to local restaurants. They use methods that Japhety’s parents learned before moving to the U.S. to cultivate the land, save seeds, and grow crops that are culturally significant. Follow them HAPPINESS FAMILY FARM and find them any of these farmers markets:

PSU Farmers Market: Saturdays, May 4 – October 12
Kenton Farmers Market: Wednesdays, June 4 – September 25
