This is how a story is written!

In 2019, we began our first Hood To Coast Relay journey with our community. Crossing the finish line alongside our family was a moment we will never forget.

Fast forward to 2026, three little kids in that photo from seven years ago are no longer so little. They all participated in their first Hood to Coast Relay (along side their parent), with Arya proudly running her third.

This is exactly what we dream for: using running to inspire our children and our community to pursue purpose, health, and connection. What started as a race has become a family tradition and a way of life.

We’re not finished yet. We look forward to continuing this journey for as long as we can, one mile at a time.

There’s no standard half marathon training plan for a child with CP riding an adaptive trike. Arya is nonverbal, so understanding how she’s feeling is always a challenge. She doesn’t ask for water or hydration during her rides, let alone energy gels or other supplements.

Instead, we rely on a variety of indicators. We pay close attention to her mood during and after each ride, whether she can still generate power later in the session, and how she recovers afterward. It’s a complex training process built on observation, adaptation, and plenty of trial and error.

That said, it’s safe to say she handled her longest ride in quite some time like an absolute champ. The photo on the bench was taken after today’s 10-mile ride, and judging by that smile, it looks like everything is going great. Portland Marathon, we’re ready and can’t wait!

Crossing the finish line is the easy part. The real work happens long before race day through the preparation, discipline, and countless miles that get you to the starting line. The event itself is simply the victory lap for all the hard work you’ve already put in.Training for the Portland Marathon (half) continues, and the weather has been on our side. This girl is putting in the miles with a big smile and enjoying every step of the journey.

Team I’mPossible has completed the Hood To Coast Relay . Great adventures and a lot of memories to tell for months and being talked about for years. All runners including our young stars exceeded expectations and pushed individual limits so high. Now we enjoy and rest then we will tell all about our stories in the near future.

Introducing The Team I’mPossible for the Hood To Coast Relay. A 196 miles relay race. The team starts with the I’mPossible Girl, Arya.

Our team starts with the I’mPossible Girl, Arya, who will be running alongside her dad as a duo. Together, they are excited to take on the mother of all relays!

Van 1 Team:�This group includes three parent-child duos. Arya and her dad are running as a team, while the other two father-son duos are each tackling the relay independently. Fun fact: all three of the young runners attend the same high school!

Van 2 Team:�This van features another father-son duo running independently. We also have another high school runner taking on a solo leg, and he will have the honor of being our team’s finisher.

Meet the Full Team I’mPossible:�Our team is made up of five high schoolers and four parent-child duos. We are especially excited to have Nafees, who traveled all the way from Belgium to participate in the Hood To Coast Relay. This truly is a special group of runners, united by challenge, friendship, and determination.

The Entire Crew:�This photo includes the team along with two of our three incredible volunteers. Unfortunately, one volunteer couldn’t make the picture due to a scheduling conflict. We are incredibly grateful for their support, because events like this are only possible with dedicated volunteers behind the scenes.

Tomorrow, the adventure begins! We are excited, a little nervous, and ready to take on the challenge. Most importantly, we hope to cross the finish line together and bring all five of our kids home safely after an unforgettable experience.
