Pathways Dance Company

Join Kelly Koltiska on 3/7 with a modern dance class based in Bartenieff fundamentals, release technique, and Limón. Class will include feel good floorwork, center work focusing on spirals and swings, and voracious traveling across the floor.

On 3/14, come enjoy a fun, freeing intermediate ballet class focused on artistic expression, strength and fluidity led by Amelia Unsicker Logan. This class will begin with a 40-minute barre and end in the center with turns, a waltz, and some light jumps!

MEET THE MUSICIANS:

After eight years as a full-time ICU nurse, HANNAH HILLEBRAND decided to pursue her passion and completed her Master's degree in cello performance with Hamilton Cheifetz at Portland State University in 2014. While pursuing her degree, she participated in masterclasses with artists such as the Takacs String Quartet, the Tokyo String Quartet and cellists Johannes Moser and Alban Gerhardt. She continues to work part-time as a nurse while enjoying a busy freelancing schedule. She thrives on collaboration and enjoys working with artists of all varieties to present multi-disciplinary performances. She has a busy private teaching schedule with students of a wide variety of ages. Hannah is an avid traveler and photographer (www.alaskalightphotography.com) and her wildlife and landscape photography has been featured internationally.

MEET THE MUSICIANS:

Praised for her “staggeringly brilliant…ethereal soprano” (The Source) JOCELYN CLAIRE THOMAS has engaged audiences with her haunting sound, musical intelligence, and unusual versatility. She has sung more than 40 operatic roles with Portland Opera, Tacoma Opera, Eugene Opera, Inland Northwest Opera, Opera Theater Oregon, OperaBend, Brava Opera Theater, Puget Sound Concert Opera, Cascadia Chamber Opera, and many others.

Recent solo highlights include Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915 with the Salem Philharmonia Orchestra, “Amor” in Paride ed Elena with Puget Sound Concert Opera, Soprano Soloist in Dvorak’s Stabat Mater with Festival Chorale Oregon, and “Flora/Annina" in La Traviata with Opera in the Park Portland. Some upcoming engagements include Soprano Soloist in Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 with the Willamette Master Chorus, "Eliza" in Dark Sisters with Eugene Opera, and "Bertha" in The Barber of Seville with OperaBend.

Originally from Columbia, MO, Jocelyn holds a B.M. from the Oberlin Conservatory, and both an M.M. and Graduate Performance Diploma from the Peabody Conservatory. Currently based in Portland, OR, Jocelyn maintains a private studio in voice, piano, and flute.

MEET THE MUSICIANS:

SUSAN MCDANIEL has appeared widely as a solo and collaborative pianist, including regional and national concert tours as well as recitals in France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic. After receiving a Master’s degree in vocal accompanying from the Manhattan School of Music, she performed as a young artist with San Diego Opera and then worked as a member of the music staff at Seattle Opera and Utah Festival Opera. Since returning to her home state of Oregon, Susan has maintained an active performing career in vocal and instrumental chamber music, appearing with prominent artists including the operatic baritone Alessandro Corbelli and violinist Anne Akiko Meyers. She was also the resident pianist of All Classical Portland’s live-performance radio show, Thursdays @ Three, and has accompanied numerous productions at Portland Opera. Susan has been a frequent faculty artist in the Vocal Arts program at the Atlantic Music Festival and is faculty coach at the Music in the Marche opera and chamber music training program in Mondavio, Italy. In 2018, she was appointed lecturer of music in collaborative piano at the University of Portland.

MEET THE CHOREOGRAPHERS:

AMELIA LOGAN, Co-Director of Pathways Dance Company, is a dance artist, choreographer and dance educator known for her captivating, thoughtful and carefully orchestrated movement. She holds an M.F.A. in Dance from the Claire Trevor School of the Arts at the University of California, Irvine. Amelia trained at the Oregon Ballet Theatre School and later danced as a soloist with Ballet Fantastique and the Agniezska Laska Dancers, where she had the opportunity to tour both nationally and internationally. She has presented her choreography at festivals and showcases across the nation. As an educator, Amelia teaches dynamic and creative classes that challenge dancers to find their own artistic voice. Amelia currently teaches ballet, contemporary dance, and Pilates at Classical Ballet Academy, Fired-Up Dance Academy, and the Oregon Ballet Theatre School.

MEET THE DANCERS:

ANNA OLMSTEAD began her training in Portland, Oregon and had the privilege of studying at summer intensives such as San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, Robert Moses Kin, The Cambrians, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and others. Anna continued her explorations in dance at Dominican University of California with the Alonzo King LINES Ballet BFA Program and graduated May 2018 with a BFA in Dance and a Minor in Arts management. In addition to her studies in college she worked with Juntos Collective, an organization dedicated to providing dance training to underserved communities in Central America. Since Graduating Anna has received her certification to become a Gyrokinesis® trainer, Gyrotonic® apprentice, and collaborated on works with multiple Portland artists. Anna has toured nationally and internationally to notable venues and festivals in California, China, Detroit, Mexico, Nicaragua, Philadelphia, and Miami.

KELLY KOLTISKA is a co-founder, director and choreographer of Pathways Dance Company. She grew up on a farm in Wyoming and began her dance journey at the local studio. She holds a B.F.A. in Dance and Choreography from The University of Montana and has studied with Bebe Miller and Doug Varone. In 2010, Kelly moved to Portland and performed with Top Shake Dance and Muffie Delgado Connelly. You can find her teaching dance and fitness classes at Multnomah Athletic Club, Pulse Dance Studio, Columbia Ballet, and through Portland Parks and Recreation.
