Srijon Chowdhury is a Portland-based painter whose luminous, symbolically charged works merge the personal with the mythological. For the 2026 Converge45 Triennial, he presents ๐๐ฉ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ญ, a new chapter in his multi-year ๐๐ช๐จ๐ช๐ญ ๐๐บ๐ค๐ญ๐ฆ. Presented at Hoffman Gallery at Lewis and Clark College, the installation features a welded steel gate holding sigils of the tarotโs Major Arcana, with corresponding paintings and a central work devoted to โThe Fool.โ Drawing on a linguistic slippageโโphoolโ means โflowerโ in the artistโs Bangladeshi dialectโthe project reimagines the tarot as a living visual grammar of recurrence and perpetual beginning.

At the Cooley Gallery at Reed College, Rose Salaneโwhose work explores how bureaucratic systems and individual lives leave material traces in everyday objectsโpresents a new video and series of prints centering on a pair of shoes once owned by Princess Diana. The video documents a magic show and public viewing convened by the artist at Lloyd Center and Pioneer Place in February 2026, echoing a 1997 Portland memorial in which thousands gathered to mourn Diana and signed condolence albums that were later lost before reaching Buckingham Palace. By centering these shoes as a charged relic, Salane investigates how collective memory attaches to objects, how a city chooses to remember what matters, and what happens when official records vanish. โ

Lex Brown (Rome, IT) utilizes video and performance to interrogate the absurdities of late capitalism. For the 2026 C45 Triennial, she presents Carnelian, an expansive installation of paintings and video at the Patricia Reser Center for the Arts. Conceived as a feature-length musical, the video follows three elemental archetypesโrepresenting fire, air, and earthโas they navigate a sensory deluge of media while awaiting an impending disaster. Through a sophisticated blend of poetic satire and original music, the project investigates a contemporary world defined by โemergency overload,โ polarizing rhetoric, and the existential threat of extinction. โ
