It is such an important moment in our history to elevate voices of those who do not have the ability to freely speak and to say the hard thing, even when our voices shake as we say it.

Captured: 3 Filipina birthworkers in one photo! Just missing Marnellie and you’d have all the pinay PDX based birthworkers in one photo.
As I’ve grown in my birthwork, bringing birth support to those in my cultural community has become more and more important to me.
The type of care provided by a doula and a midwife would not be reserved for the privileged few. Actually, it’s even more important that doulas are there for those whose births are historically at risk of unwanted outcomes. It’s at these births where we can make the MOST different.
It is such an honor to stay beside these two in a photo and to be in community together 🙏🏽 salamat to the universe for bringing us together 💕🇵🇭🙌🏾

🥸 This is where you’ll find me after I get home from a birth: the floor.
Birth is such a wild wife. Every. Single. Time. And it’s so different Every. Single. Time.
Just got back from and got the support a beautiful water birth. Now it’s time for me to take it all in and reflect on the gratitude, euphoria, self-reflection, love, and all the rest that comes in the moments after getting to witness a birth.
This s**t is deep and intimate and intense. I can’t believe people choose me to be their doula and I’m so fu***ng grateful for it everyday.
