Write Around Portland uses creative writing to help people heal, change, and transform.

Their programs are designed to show participants that they are already writers. That their stories are worthwhile not just for their content but how they’re told.

They bring their programming directly to the people who need it, writing with them in convenient places where they already live or receive services.

I can't support them enough!

The "Raise Your Pen" event is an annual benefit and literary party for Write Around Portland, scheduled for Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Jupiter NEXT. The fundraiser features a catered meal, silent auction, and participant stories to support the community creative writing nonprofit.

Event Details & Logistics
The evening's festivities kick off at 5:30 PM PDT, with early entry starting at 5:00 PM for Inkwell Members. Attendees who join this membership tier receive benefits such as an expedited check-in and first choice at the silent auction items.

The venue for the 2026 fundraiser is Jupiter NEXT, located at 900 E Burnside Street in Portland. For specific inquiries regarding accommodation or logistics, the designated event contact is Tia-Theo Thompson, reachable at 503-278-9760.

Registration & Tickets
Admission options are structured to accommodate both individuals and groups:

General Admission: Tickets are priced at $75.00 per person.
Table of 8: Group reservations are available for $600.00.
Interested attendees can secure entry through the Humanitix ticket platform or via the official registration page. Ticket purchases help fund the nonprofit, and patrons also have the option to make a donation to provide a seat for a volunteer facilitator for whom the price is otherwise unfeasible.

What to Expect
"Raise Your Pen" is designed as an easygoing, literary party where community members can connect with fellow writers and bookish types. The evening features:
Food & Drink: A catered dinner provided by Portland favorite ¿Por Qué No? Taqueria, w**e selections from A to Z Wineworks, and fireside s'mores by Marsh & Mallow Co.
Entertainment & Auctions: A silent auction featuring an array of local goods and adventures, alongside inspirational readings and personal stories shared by Agency Workshop Participants.

About the Organization
All proceeds directly benefit Write Around Portland, a local nonprofit organization that utilizes creative writing to foster healing, community connection, and personal transformation. They partner with local agencies to provide accessible writing workshops across the region.
