Punk rock, rock ‘n’ roll, alt rock, pop, classic rock, electronic, and more.

Sometimes it’s hard to put into words how much a person can mean to you. That isn’t the case for me when it comes to Oliver.

Today, I lost a brother.

If you had the gift of calling Oliver a friend, you were lucky enough to be in orbit around a human planet that radiated nothing but care, love, and laughter. I was lucky enough to be one of those surrounding planets. I use space analogies because, like his biggest song, Oliver truly was an “Alien Boy.” There was nobody else like him.

When most people were unwinding from the stresses of life and playing a video game after a long day of work, Oliver would open his laptop and start writing a screenplay. Then you’d see him the next day and learn that he had finished that screenplay, written another one the same night, and come up with an idea for a documentary he would eventually try to make. The fuel his brain ran on was pure creativity in a way that I am still in awe of. I never got used to it.

He took me under his wing and saw something in me when I couldn’t see it in myself. He tried to give me every tool imaginable to help me. He was the polar opposite of a gatekeeper and only wanted his friends to succeed.

There are things Oliver did for me and for my sense of self-worth that are so personal I can’t even mention them here. They will mean more to me than words in the human language could ever accurately convey.

Today, the world lost one of the good ones. People around me lost a family member. The solar system will orbit differently from this moment forward.

Forever the Alien Boy. 06/19/2026
