These two little puppies were abandoned in a box near one of our volunteer’s homes. Someone simply left them there.

We want to say YES to them. We want to bring them into The MexiMutt Project, get them safe, fed, vaccinated, dewormed, sterilized, and eventually find them the loving homes they deserve.

But right now, we really need your help.

2026 has been one of the most financially challenging years our rescue has faced. We’ve had an unusually high number of dogs needing medical care, and the veterinary expenses have added up quickly. With so many dogs already depending on us, taking in two more puppies means additional expenses for food, vaccines, preventatives, sterilizations, and veterinary care.

🚨 90 DAYS. ZERO APPLICATIONS. 🚨

We’ve had Ashley for three months now.

Not one application.

And we truly don’t understand it.

Ashley is 5 years old, only 9 pounds, and honestly one of the easiest little dogs you could ask for.

She’s quiet.
She’s crate trained.
She’s house trained.
She walks beautifully on a leash.
She LOVES going for car rides.
She’s calm in the house.
And more than anything, she just wants to be with her person.

Ashley is a companion dog in every sense of the word. She’ll follow you from room to room, curl up beside you, ride around in the car with you, go for her walks, and happily make your life her life.

The problem? Her foster home is not the right environment for her. There are constantly dogs coming and going, and Ashley gets overwhelmed by all of them. She tolerates calm dogs who respect her space, but if Ashley could choose her perfect home?

She would choose to be your one and only.
And we really want to give her that.
She doesn’t need another dog to entertain her. She wants YOU. Your lap. Your bed. Your passenger seat. Your walks. Your attention.
She is not destructive.
She is not high-energy.
She is not a project.
She is just a wonderful little dog who has somehow been completely overlooked.

Ashley was rescued after being found terrified and running through four lanes of traffic in Mexico. We thought someone had to be looking for her and we posted her all over social media looking for her owner and nobody ever came to claim her.

Now, 90 days later, she’s still waiting for someone to choose her.

Meet Malva 🩶 AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION - Link in bio to learn more & apply!

Can you believe this beautiful girl was once found skin and bones, sick with ringworm, covered in fleas, and battling a fever?
Look at her now! 🥹

Malva is about 1 year old and 35 lbs and has completely transformed. She’s playful, affectionate, wonderfully scruffy, very low shedding, and loves dogs, cats, and people! Her favorite hobby is collecting toys and carrying all of her little treasures back to her bed. 😂

Malva also recently underwent FHO hip surgery, which involved removing the damaged head of her femur. Because her operated leg is now slightly shorter than the other, she is doing physical therapy to build and maintain the muscle that supports her hip.

This doesn’t stop Malva from enjoying life! She can enjoy normal walks, playtime, and everyday adventures, but she isn’t built for strenuous hiking, long-distance running, or repetitive high-impact activities. Her future family will simply need to help keep her lean, strong, and active and continue supporting her orthopedic health as she gets older.

After everything this little girl has survived, Malva is SO ready to finally have a family of her own. 🥰

I’ve been waiting more than 10 months for a family to call my own, and I was thinking… maybe if I got a DNA test, it would help me finally get adopted! 🧬🥹

Everyone keeps calling me a Chihuahua mix, but honestly… nobody really knows WHAT I am. 😂

Maybe I’m Chihuahua. Maybe I’m part professional fetch player. 🎾 Maybe there’s a little water dog mixed in there because I LOVE playing in the water. 💦 And there definitely has to be a gene responsible for this adorable little underbite.

Galleta’s story breaks our hearts. Before being rescued, she survived for months outside in Mexico, terrified of people and eating garbage to stay alive. She was so fearful that she would run whenever anyone tried to approach her.

She has come SO far. ❤️ She has learned that people can be kind, that hands can give affection instead of hurting her, and that being someone’s little companion is actually pretty wonderful.

But Galleta has one request for her forever home: she can be very attached to her person and wants all the attention for herself, so we believe she will thrive as the only pet in the home.

Portland, Oregon — Meet your new best friend, Javier! 😍 This adorable 4 year old, 10 lb Chihuahua-Miniature Pinscher mix is looking for a home where he can be someone’s one and only. He is a total people dog who LOVES attention and affection. Once you are his person, he wants to be right by your side and involved in everything you do. He is the kind of little dog who will happily follow you from room to room just to be near you.

He loves car rides, walks nicely on a leash, and enjoys paddle boarding with his person. At home, he loves his crate and actually puts himself to bed around 9pm each night and sleeps quietly until morning.

Cats are unknown. He has had limited experience with children and he was initially shy and barky but warmed up once he felt comfortable.

His perfect home would be with someone who is home often and wants a devoted little companion to share their life with.
