Just received this fantastic publication about Deborah Kruger's work - it's titled Extinctions like the solo show at the Civico Museo Parisi Valle, curated by Barbara Pavan.

This lovely catalog digs into Deborah's process, work and rationale - highly recommend looking into this and, crucially, Deborah Kruger's fantastic environmental work.

On view October 1-31, 2026, this exhibition presents works by Portland artist Dan Gay.

Through this ongoing series, the artist is looking at the frayed edges of our perception, our distance and connection—the vulnerability and beauty of being an individual in the world, and the challenges of being together.

As the artist explains: "Over the past six years my portraits have touched on many ideas and themes both personal and, he hopes, universal. Sometimes the process is simply an exploration of painting, sometimes I'm trying to tease out some humanity from all the noise. This process has been both a respite and a challenge, deep work and comfort. I played with textures, tools, and time. I let go of rules and explored within the confines of a simple figure. I've met myself in new ways in the process. I've seen lost friends and shadows of unmet others; reflections of me, and of us. I hope you see something familiar here too, a reflection of what it might mean to be a person."

The show debuts on October 1, with an Opening Reception from 5 to 8pm.

Imperfecta's holiday show will be up for two months and I already started the curation planning as it'll be .. fabulously fun!

This is our only open call for 2026 so I encourage those that wish to show at Imperfecta to apply, as we celebrate ALL holidays - Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Yule, Bodhi Day, Shōgatsu and so on.

Each artist can submit up to 5 pieces - all medium accepted (strictly NO AI) yet each piece must fit in a 6x6x6 inches box and cost no more than $200.

"The Comeuppance Beetle” by Steve Eichenberger is part of his "Guardians of the Inner Universe" series and on show till September 26 - in the duo show "Creative Alchemy," with Jacquline Hurlbert.

Here is what Steve shared about this mixed media artwork with hammered/riveted wings (47x22x18 inches(:

‘Comeuppance means the deserved consequences of someone’s own actions — usually after they’ve been behaving badly for a while. When people say, ”They’re gonna get their comeuppance!” they mean that person will finally get what they deserve (aka ‘just deserts’, or karma).

Humans have caused an insect apocalypse. And at the rate we’re going, we’re next.

Talk to this creature: rant, rejoice in the good, apologize, promise, confide, commiserate."

Meet a selection of Steve Eichenberger's Guardians of the Inner Universe.

On view from September 3 to 26 and part of "Creative Alchemy : Between Dreams and Reality," these mixed media pieces, like all pieces part of this duo show, invite viewers to stand among sculptures that feel awake and imbued with intention, and to experience how inert materials can become companions in one's inner universe.

These Guardians offer presence, solidarity, strength, and the reminder that imagination is a force powerful enough to turn the intangible into artifacts that stand eye‑to‑eye with reality.

Steve works with materials that don't yield easily. Steel is struck, shaped, and tempered by pressure and heat; clay is coaxed into forms that feel unearthed rather than designed. Resulting artworks feel less like objects and more like forged companions, guardians, confidants — they stand with someone rather than simply stand before them.

Steve Eichenberger has been a full-time Oregon artist since 1995, fluent in several media and voraciously experimenting. As he explains, "I perceive my "inner artist" as a separate, mysterious entity with boundless energy that wanders mostly hidden in the recesses of my mind, and regards me as simply the "meat person" to carry out its wishes."
