Like so many nonprofits, we have an awesome volunteer board of directors that help us with everything from putting on our community events to organizing fundraisers on behalf of our programs.

We welcomed a new Executive Committee in August and we wanted to take a moment to introduce them: Ryan, Leah, Nathan, and Erin!! 😍

We have had QUITE the summer over here at Active Children Portland! And we wouldn’t want it any other way.

In addition to our 9 Summer Programs happening across East Portland, we hosted our First Annual Summer Fundraiser, The Active Wipeout, at Pioneer Courthouse Square, which was a BLAST if we do say so ouurselves. Don’t worry, if you missed it we’ll be back next June so keep your eyes peeled for that announcement. 👀

We also closed out our summer with a Back-2-School Community Event at Clinton Park thanks to support from our friends at SE Uplift. We gave out backpacks filled with school supplies, books of all kinds, fresh produce food boxes, and got to kick a soccerball around with our friends. What’s more fun than that?? ⚽️🍎

These are moments whene our staff, board of directors, and coaches get to come together and PLAY with our community. And we absolutely love it! 💙❤️💚

We’ve got some big stuff coming down the pipeline as we head into fall and the new school year - we can’t wait to share with you.

We have 15 different sites that need coach-mentors starting this September! (Including 1 site in Gervais and 1 site in Salem)

We even bumped up our pay to $25 an hour!!

We know it's been a little quiet over here since our big summer event in June ... but don't worry, ACP is gearing up for the school year with our BACK-2-SCHOOL Community Resource Event!!!

On August 15th @ Clinton Park we'll be getting together with some of our friends to provide food boxes, a Book Bus, drop-in soccer and SO MUCH MORE!

Free & Open to the public from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm!

The Active Wipeout 2026 was a HUGE SUCCESS!! 🥰

Over 150+ kids and adults participated throughout the day: racing through the inflatable obstacle courses, playing games with our partners, and having a ton of fun! 🎉

A gigantic thank you to our sponsors, and , for investing in our first annual summer event! And we couldn't have pulled it off without and . 🤝

And shoutout to our community partners who showed up and truly made the day special for every single kid AND adult who came out, from hosting the cone challenge and a reading space, to making bracelets and teaching some rugby tricks. There was a little of something for everyone!
