Have you ever wanted to know everything about us! Well now you can! If you wanted to know all of our answers to these particular questions that is :) watch for our profiles here during non-show weeks this summer, and make sure to read on for one more Q&A with Soneji ⬇️💕

Q: How long have you been playing music! What got you into it! Tell us your story as an artist!
A: 15+ years! I got forced into band as a kid lmao I had an interest in playing pop music during the early stages. Definitely didn’t play Moves Like Jagger for a talent show in 8th grade. I got into jazz, VGM, and anime (J-Music in general) music late into high school and I combined the three interests when I started college. I started the first version of UDT (wasn’t called UDT at the time) cause I wanted to play music I cared about, but also I wanted to travel and perform at anime conventions. I moved away for a year cause of uni, then started up the actual UDT when I moved back. I also play with Mikan Project, an online group that plays anime music and does a lot of horn recording work. It started up around the same time I started the actual UDT project. I also took 2 years off from the band to move to Massachusetts for my Masters and I played with Magnificent Danger and also helped start the Boston VGM Jams during my time there. I took that passion for the jam and brought it back with me when I moved back to Portland. My bread and butter might be VGM and J-Music, but what’s more important is that I just make good music with good people :)
